Hello All! We are SO excited to have just booked our very first trip to Disney World for July!

I have TONS of questions -- - but right now, we're thinking about autograph books. I've found them on eBay for $5-8, so I'm wondering if we should purchase them BEFORE we go, or wait until we get down there? I know that things can be very expensive there, so I'd like to save $$ any way I can.

Also.......someone told me that there are special "perks" for you if you let the hotel know that you're first timers. Anyone have info on that?!?!\

THANKS!!!

Welcome to the DIS!

I would wait on purchasing the autograph books. We always get a new one for our daughter when we go, and they're not too expensive. They're less or about the same as on Ebay, and they have different styles you can choose from. Also, I would either bring a LARGE pen or purchase the large pens they sell at the parks/resorts. (The characters have a hard time holding small pens.)

I haven't heard about anything special for first timers. Some people have gotten buttons that said it was their first trip. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything. But maybe someone else can help you with that....

Have fun planning! Warning! The DIS can be addictive!!!! (I think planning is as fun as actually going!) :wizard:

We usually purchse the autograph book before going. It was a nice "travel gift" for our DD when she was younger. We drove down (from NJ) a few years, and opening a gift was a way of keeping her occupied. When we flew, opening a gift was a way of taking her mind off the flight (she gets motion sickness).
And yes definitely get an oversized pen (they're available at the Disney Store) as some of the characters (Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck...) have trouble with the gloves and seeing the book to sign. Human characters (Cinderella, Prince Charming...) obviously have no problem.

Welcome

I'd buy them before you go to save money and so you don't have to use time down there to get one.

If you really want to save money on an autograph book, you can always make your own. Just get a blank book/journal with a plain cover and then you and your child can make a project out of decorating it with Disney stickers.

You can also make elaborate ones with scrapbooking supplies. That could be a fun project for older kids.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't bother w/ ebay for autograph books. The Disney autograph books are okay b/c they have a picture of Mickey on them, but the paper's nothing special, and as thin as any other little notebook. Like other posters suggested, you might do better making your own autograph books.

For our upcoming trip I found great blank books for $2 each, just slightly bigger than the Disney books, with watercolor/sketch paper in them at our local Five & Below store. The paper's thicker, so the characters' signatures won't bleed thru (I'm getting fat sharpies). And I'll get Disney stickers for my DDs to decorate on the plane ride down.

Have fun & happy planning!

I made my own autograph books for our upcoming trip. (11days:woohoo: ) I just took 4x6 index cards, decorated them, punched a hole in the top corner, and put them on a ring. SOOO easy! I used my scrapbooking stickers and paper to decorate and for the characters that I didn't have a sticker for, I used clip art off the computer. They turned out really cute and my DD (7) just had a fit over them. The best part is that once I have an autograph, I can trim the card a little and put it in the kids memory books with a pic of them and the character. If I was more technologically adept, I would post a pic, unfortunately, I know not how! :confused3

The autograph books at Disney are around $6.00. We always get one in the resort gift shop before heading to the parks :goodvibes

Really? Only $6! WELL...that solves my problem! The only thing I could find around here that I liked would be $6.99 plus stuff to decorate them with!

Not to jump in on the OP's post but are they available at the Walmart down there too? We'll be making a run there for supplies as soon as the rental car is loaded, on the way to the resort.

Would anyone have a picture of an "official" Disney book?
