First timer staying in cabin how long would you stay

Hi

I'm really looking forward to planning our trip for 2015!
There are 6 of us me,hubby, kids aged at travel time 3,5,11 & 16
We caravan lots in uk and I love disney so thought this b perfect for us
My question is how long should we stay. We are hoping to b there 30 oct and staying as long as poss to do all parks, universal and all that fort has to offer
I wanna do mnsshp and Halloween at fort

We stayed for 2 weeks. There were 4 of us, me, DH and 2 DDs who at the time were 6 and 3. We loved the cabin. The living area, kitchen, dining area were quite spacious and the pull down bed was comfortable. In fact the only negative thing really was the lack of storage space in the bedroom, mind you it could have been that we had too much stuff!! . We had to keep some things in the suitcase and we left in on the bed in the bedroom, as nobody was using that. Things may have changed since we stayed there, we stayed there in 2000.

Rumor has it that the cabins will be replaced by then. Some will be two bedroom and some will be one bedroom as they are now. I don't know what the bed arrangement will be for either size...or what the price will be.

With either arrangement, my opinion is that you should stay permanently at the Fort. It is the greatest place, especially with kids. Keep us posted with your plans as time grows closer.

2 weeks would definitely give you plenty of time to experience everything....and still have time for relaxing and enjoying the Fort. Plus, I highly recommend renting a golf cart. It makes getting around the fort so much easier and time efficient....and it's fun!

You may also want to look at renting a trailer for camping at the Fort. We rented a 30 foot trailer that slept 10, my son loved that he had his own bunk room with three beds and a TV. We looked at renting a cabin but the cost was very high compared to a trailer, and once we saw the area where the cabins are located I was glad we didn't. It reminded me of a mobile home park where everything looked the same, they are crammed in pretty tight. Our campsite was close to the pool, very quiet and relaxing area with nice separation between sites with trees. Hi! I never would have thought of this option. Do you mind sharing w/ me what the approximate cost was for the trailer and then how much it was to rent the camp site? I assume you had a full kitchen and amenities? We are going on a cruise in April 2014 and want to stay 4 nights at Disney. I heard great things about the cabins at ft. wilderness. We have 3 boys so it seemed right up their alley. But I like this idea very much as well. Thanks!

We agree that we would live there full time if possible.
The price for the cabins is less with a discount 25% to 30% then you would pay for RV rental and a campsite. The cabins are set up so that you have a lot more room outside between the cabins. You also have a full kitchen including a dish washer and a fridge with a ice maker and a much larger bathroom, and don't forget mousekeeping and lots of towels and shampoo. The cabins also have their own pool and hot tub which are never very crowded, in fact you might have it to yourself at times.
We have stayed 10 times for 10 to 14 days and would not consider any place else.

The trailer which was a 30 footer and slept 10 was $799 for the week, we had a premium camp site at $550 for the week. When I priced the cabins it was about $2800 for the week, we could have stayed two weeks in the trailer for the price of one in a cabin. Even with a discount the cabins are expensive, yes they do have daily maid service which I dont see as a big plus unless someone is very messy. I took the broom on our last morning and swept some sand out, yes I had to do dishes and coffee mugs a few mornings but it only takes a few minutes. We just got back from a lovely week at FW. We rented from Greenberg and will highly recommend them. Matt and Anita were extremely helpful.

We stayed in the Daytona which was about $700 and the campsite was about $100 per night. I would never pay $200 per night to go camping but it was worth it to have our dog with us at Disney.

I would think a good rule of thumb is at least a day for each park. Seems like it takes us one and a half days for Epcot though. We always like to see Magic Kingdom at least 2 different times, once when we first arrive and once again the night we leave. We have returned for another evening at HS if we didn't get to see Fantasia. One day at Animal Kingdom is enough for us unless it rains us out! This is why we get the park hopper. We usually stay at least 8 nights. In 2007 a family of 7, ages 14-52 stayed 11 nights That was more than enough for us to do all we wanted! We saw 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, went down town Disney, ate out at two places with reservations that year.
In 2011 my husband and I stayed 2 nights by ourselves then 8 nights with daughter and her family with one child 2 yrs old & we done 4 theme parks, 1 water park, had dining reservations everyday(including several character meals) went downtown Disney. This year my husband and I are planning on 2 nights just us , 8 nights with daughter and her family, kids ages 1 & 4. We plan on seeing all 4 theme parks, water parks?( because we have passes at home) a day at the pool, 4 character meals, Tusker House, Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Sci Fi. We plan on eating outside disney a couple of times.
