First time cruiser alert!!

Just curious, while onboard when you want to do or buy something extra (wine tastings and special beverages for example), is that clearly stated? Including in the price?

I have this big fear of finding that we have unknowingly charged a ton of things, lol.

We were 1st time cruisers in December and yeah, there will be unexpected costs. We did not plan out our trip down to the minute but we planned on wanting to do spur of the moment things. We just made sure to budget plenty of $$.

I was a first time cruiser in March and prices were marked for the most part. The main exception that stands out is the people selling drinks off a tray when you first get on the boat. There were no prices mentioned and it wasn't clear that you were buying both the drink and the glass ($12) for the DOTD. Other than that, I don't remember wondering about prices.

There are specialty drinks on top of the menu each night that you have to pay for and the prices are not always listed. It is confusing to me because everything else on the menu is free. If they ask for your KTTW, it costs $ and you can always say "never mind".

You really can't unknowingly rack up charges. If you have to scan your KTTW card you are spending money and can ask the CM what the charge is before you scan. You will still have time to say no thank you and walk away.

Well, yes and no to this. Our first cruise we were seated with a single dad and his two daughters. He was having beers in the Disney mug every evening and they were ordering the DOTD from the kids menu. He scanned his card thinking he was paying for his beers I guess (?) and didn't know the girls drinks were what he was paying for every evening. The final evening or next morning at breakfast, I recall him mentioning his room bill and shock at all of the girls drinks.

Other than that, I would generally agree it is pretty obvious when something is going to cost something. There are some areas I've been scared away from because I thought they charged and then later read here they don't. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the sweets at Cove Cafe or the lounge area in the atrium on the Dream and Fantasy? They look awesome, but I didn't want to ask how much.

If they scan your KTTW card don't they give you a receipt of any sort, and if not, can you ask for a receipt?

We are really big water drinkers and I will allow the kids to have a fizzy drink while on the cruise (dont think I will be able to stop them) but at dinner time will want them to drink water with their meal. Will this be an additional charge?

He wasn't looking at what he was signing, then.

The sweets there are included in your fare. The coffees are not.

Soda and water are included. If you mean sparkling water, that would be an extra charge.

Our first cruise we had to find something to spend our OBC on the last night because except for tips we didn't spend anything. So you can do it without spending anything but on our next cruise we will have some expenses. :goodvibes: Two things that seem to surprise a lot of people are the arcade and the specialty drinks.
