So my husband and I live in Tampa but I have only been to Disney once when I was 5. We volunteered and got free passes and we also just got married yesterday so we have decided to go on Sunday the 7th. We are only going for the one day and coming home afterwards. I want to go to Magic Kingdom because I don't remember my first trip and I feel like we should.

So my questions are:
We should we eat? Can we go to a resort to eat and then go back to the park or do we have to stay at the park?

Anything special we should do?

Any other tips or suggestions are appreciated.

Oh, and if it matters...we are 23/24.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Oh, MK is such a fun place to go. Be sure to stop in at Guest Services and get your free JUST MARRIED pinS! But be prepared, many will be wishing you well....Such Happy Bliss!!!
Yes, get your hand stamped and you can leave and re-enter.
Why not jump on the monorail and go have a meal at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. It is a nice atmosphere, you'll get to see a resort, have a Lapu Lapu at the bar YUMMY! I think you'll love it! It is lush and tropical and so close! Have you been on monorail? If not, take a loop and you'll also go thru the middle of the contemporary.

If doing MK then I'd stay on the Monorail Loop if you doleave, no sense "traveling" instead of Visiting in the park!
As far as eating IN the park, I'd say LTT for a sit down or Cosmic Rays to share some ribs/chicken maybe....Have a WONDERFUL MAGICAL time!

If this year's free ticket for volunteerism is like last year's free ticket for your birthday, the ticket value can be applied to other ticket media. So you could consider applying it towards a multi-day ticket or even some of the cheaper annual passes. That would allow you to return again before you become elderly!

Congratulations! Magic Kingdom is a wonderful way to reaquaint yourself with Disney! You could also take a monorail ride to the transportation center and hop on the Epcot Monorail. It travels to and through Epcot so you cn enjoy the ride and take a peek inside the park. The Polynesian and Grand Floridian both have wonderful ding experiences. Be sure to see "Wishes", fireworks at the castle! Have a magical time:cloud9:!

I agree with KingBob! Florida Resident annual passes are fairly cheap right now, and if you put your free day pass to it, it's even cheaper! You wouldn't believe how much fun it is to know you can go to Disney any time. And with annual passes you often get amazing discounts at the resorts! I believe last year I stayed at the pop Century for only about $60ish for one night!

But if that's not your thing, and you don't want to do any dining too expensive, there are several cool places to eat. Cosmic Ray's is my favorite budget meal in MK!

Oh yes, and thank you for volunteering! :dance3: Since you do live close I would also suggest upgrading to an AP. If you use it once a month for the next 12 months it will be worth it. One Saturday each moth find a park that has the lastest hours and head to that one for the day!

:cool1: Have a Magical Day! :cool1:

I am going to have to jump on board and say I would go ahead and upgrade to an AP so you can return as much as possible. My DD and I always go to Tampa/ST. Pete to relax after a fun filled vaca at WDW and it is such an easy drive that if we lived there we would for sure go as much as we could. As for a single day at MK I would do as the OP said and travel over to the Poly and have a nice sit down meal or you could go to the Contemporary and check out the California Grill for some sushi and some beautiful scenary. You might just end up staying in the MK so you can soak it in and there are plenty of places to eat. Just remember if you do get an AP you can always come back at your pace instead of cramming everything in all at once.
Have Fun!!

Thanks for the suggestion but we are moving to Colorado next week so there really is no need for an annual pass. We are happy with just the one day =0)
