Thought we'd give it a try. Can anyone tell me what the hours are for DisneyQuest? How much time should we allot for it? And in your opinion, is it worth leaving the main parks for?

TIA,
Terry

I think it would depend on how old your kids are. My DS12 loved it - and we spent probably 2-3 hours there. He wanted to go back...so I guess that says something.

If I had younger children, I'm not sure it would have been as big a hit as it was with my older one. I'd be interested in hearing from families with younger kids who have gone...

Someone posted these hours for DQ as an answer to another question:
11:30 am - 11:00 pm Sunday through Thursday
11:30 am - 12 midnight Friday and Saturday

My DS (15) and I enjoyed our visit to DQ this past June. I don't think there is much for young children, but it is great for anyone who loves video games. My DS's favorite was making a roller coaster ride. You go to a computer and set up your own program. After you complete this you go to a simulator which translates your program into a ride. He built a very wild ride so I let him go on alone and just watched the monitor.
We also did the Pirates simulation which was great and some kind of water raft simulation which was fun.....but a lot of work rowing!!!!
There are a lot of fun things to do and the place has many floors so you can be in there for quite a while. Just note that it does get very busy as the day goes on and especially if it is a rainy day. If you have extra time I would try it, but definitely get there at opening. If you don't have a lot of time I would not skip a theme park for DQ.

I agree with WDWGoofee. It depends on how much time you have. Our kids are 11, 13 and 15 and it was fun for a morning, esp the rollar coaster thing, but they still would rather do a park. We were there for 10 days so we felt we had the time. :sunny:

We went for the first time this past August with son 11, daughter 14.

It was a great way to spend a misty day; both enjoyed it a lot, and even DH and I had fun (especially with the 'classic' games they had!)

Admission seems very high though, as we only spent a few hours there, and if it wasn't included as part of our 'plus' options we probably wouldn't have spent the extra $$ to go.

Hi,
I've been to DisneyQuest with my kids 3 times. The first they were 3 & 6yrs, the next trip 5 & 8 and last summer 8 and 11 and every time they have fun. My son, the older one loves it almost as much as a "park". My daughter loves all the animation/art stuff and will spend a lot of time on the drawings of characters, etc. When she was 5 and again when she was 8 she sat and learned how to draw one of the Disney characters and it turned out so well, that we spent the $5.00 or whatever to bring it home. :earsgirl:

Both kids love the virtual reality family raft ride and Pirate adventure etc. The free games like basketball shooting and jet skiing etc are fun too.

We never spend more than a few hours, and we do it in the late afternoon or evening, but my kids both love DisneyQuest.

Don't mean to hijack the post, but wanted to know if it costs anything additional inside Disney Quest once you are there. We have admission as part of our tickets, but wondering if we will have to come out with more once inside to play games. Thanks!

The only additional costs I remember were these:

1) If you participate in the animation drawing sessions, and want a printout of your drawing its $5...but you get a nice certificate and a couple of other sample instructions of how to draw a character in a folder. My 14 year old daughter loved this activity, and we ended up buying all the sessions she did (3).

2) If you create a toy, you have the opportunity to buy it. I'm not sure how much these cost, since we didn't do this activity.

3) There's a concession area for food and drinks; those would cost extra (cheesecake factory desserts....yum!)

Glad someone asked about the extra cost. I was wondering that myself as I've had a difficult time figuring out exactly what our pluses get us aside from water park admission.

Disney Quest is my dh's new FAVORITE "park". He would spend the whole vacation there if he could. On our last visit I literally had to pull him out the door to make our plane. Fortunately for us and unfortunately for him, he didn't discover the "classic" games until it was almost time to leave. We are returning in the summer and have already bought passes through ticketmania, their prices are great. My children (11 and 13 at the time) also had a lot of fun but didn't become obsessed like their dad. If you're prone to motion sickness, you might want to take Dramimine ahead of arrival.

Thanks for the great info! I really needed those hours to figure out when we'll be doing this.

I'm so glad to see that it is fun for the "pre-teen" age, as my DS and his best friend will both be 12 (his friend will be almost 13)yrs old when we go. I think this age group has been a little over-looked by Disney and so it's nice to know there is something that is really going to be a fun time for them. Don't get me wrong, my DS loved the other parks, but was 7 yrs old at the time and I'm not so sure it would keep his attention now the way it did then.

Oh, and the Pirates thing must be great because I keep seeing it mentioned. Can't wait!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

An online friend of mine just got back and said she lasted 45 minutes at Disney Quest...it was so LOUD! Her kids and DH stayed there and she went back to the resort and read a book by the pool!

Sounds like packing earplugs might be a good idea!
