First timer - best discounts for HRH?

It is our first time going to Universal and I am so lost. I am thinking we are going to stay at the HRH and am looking into prices now. (we're planning on going next weekend - very last minute!!) It seems like my prices are so much higher than what I see people on here getting. I will consider getting an AP, but other than that is there a way to get a discounted room? We have AAA but it didn't seem like much of a savings. We'd only be staying 3 nights - Thur. - Sun.

Try Expedia.com. I think you're suffering "bad rate syndrome" bc you are not booking in advance. I hope you land a deal though!

Looks like part of your problem is that only pool view rooms are left at HRH. That means you missed out on rates for both standard view and garden view, which would both be cheaper than pool view. An APH rate for garden view at PBH is 179$/214$. Pool view rooms at HRH are 199$/234$. Unfortunately, the SMSM rate is better the longer you stay, so not that great for only 3 nights.

Yup, my body is up at this hour, whether I'm working or not, lol. Now that the SMSM rates are back, I'm booking everything for this year...just in case they disappear again. Though IIRC, APH rates beat SMSM rates last year, with the exception of New Years...

Thanks everybody. It looks like the FL resident prices are the same as AP rates so I am going to go with that. I can get a room at Portofino cheaper than HRH becuase of the room category that is available so I guess we will go with that. I was hoping for HRH for my kids, but I am looking forward to Portofino!
