We upgraded from the deluxe room at the lodge to a 2 BR villa, Can we put in for a room request and if so does nayone have suggestions? Is there any shopping for food nearby or on the way in that the limo could stop at? I am sure I will have a few more ? before we arrive Jan5 Thanks in advance.

If you hire a limo, you can generally prearrange to have a 15 to 30 minute grocery stop. The limo service generally selects the store. The key is to call the limo company and request the stop. To save money, buy snacks, breakfast, bottled water and beverages. After a few days of eating out, a pbutter and jelly sandwich is kind of inviting....and have a great time.

I believe we can stop with our service. Does Disney have any shuttles to grocery stores near by?

There is a convenience store at the resort that stocks most items (at a higher cost).

Disney doesn't provide any transportation off-site, but the bell staff can easily get a cab for you to go to the store. Definitely have your towncar service stop at a store on your way in. If your room isn't ready when you arrive, the bell staff will store your luggage and groceries- including perishable items.

Have a great trip! :)

Thanks ! Can we request a room or does it work differently with the villas?

You can request a room. Upgrades, especially from a studio to a two bedroom are rare. The only time they happen is if there is no room of the size you have reserved available. This can happen through mistakes or accidents making a room unavailable....in general, upgrades do not happen.

Thanks for the info! I have the 2 BR booked, I just wanted to Know if we could request a specific area of the villas?

I'm sorry, I misread your question...I thought you were asking about a complimentary upgrade from a studio to a two bedroom.....nevermind.

There is a danger here. After reserving a two bedroom for cash, many people have reported leaving with a tote bag full of paper.

Its a nice tote bag, it has the DVC logo, you will like it.

No Tote bag for us Hopefully. We had the deluxe room at the lodge and upgraded to the villas thru the Dis Club. I hope we do not get a sales pitch.

There is no pitch. What Rich is trying to tell you is that you will seek out a DVC rep and BEG for the paper (with or without the tote bag!).

We didn't even have to spend the whole night. We were hooked about 30 seconds after we walked in the door. Even our blase 16 year old nothing-impresses-me teenager at the time, gasped and said "This is the ROOM?".

It's happened to the best of us.

Be sure not to mention any interest anywhere. The sales presentations can my grueling, six hour experiences. Sometimes they do them under hot lights in no airconditioning. They will take the kids out of sight and hammer on you for hours. I remember the sales guy, over weight, unshaven and very anxious wearing a polyester Hawaiian shirt three sizes too small. He had sweat dripping from his brow onto an already stained sleave, he had an oozing boil on his forehead, he smelled of last night's rum and cheap cigars. The room we were in was way too small, the chairs felt purposely uncomfortable.

Gotta run

...and yet we sign up and go on to lead normal lives.

In all seriousness, the DVC reps will not hound you at all, even if you decide to "take the tour". They will not hound you, during or after. We have just heard soooo many reports of people staying on cash and then buying into DVC while they are there.

As far as your question goes, you can make a request for a view, or a floor just like any other WDW property they are just requests and not gaurenteed. Unfortunately, since I have never been to the VWL I can't help you with what the best requests might be.

You Guy's make a good tag team. In all fairness A very nice lady named betty from the DVC will be happy to know I made this upgrade of my own free will and accord. I am looking forward to the site and who knows maybe our family will be the next in a long line of DVC family's.

Oooops, sorry, I was thinking of the tour I did in St Maartin, the first timeshare tour I ever did. If it wasn't for the seedyness of the salesman, we probably would have bought.

The following year, '92, we went looking to see if Disney had a timeshare. You would be shocked to know how many castmembers said, "No, Disney doesn't have a timeshare, they wouldn't get involved in something like that."

We heard that line half a dozen times before finding someone at the entrance to MK. This guy got on his little walkie talkie, asked us if we would like to see them now and less than fifteen minutes later that cool old car thing with the "Vacation Club" logo pulled up and whisked us over to OKW(VC). The presentation was very pleasent, they had cool things for the kids to do, they had a real nice ice cream shoppe, and about two hours later we were having our picture taken with our tote bag full of paper.

I thought that the most interesting part of the deal was that before you could actually buy, you had to sit with this guy whose job was to talk you out of it. This guy was serious. He kept asking if we were sure we could afford it, if we understood that we were buying share in THIS and only This resort, all the other offers and amneties could and probably would be taken away at any time. He offered us a chance to change our minds about a dozen times.

I have never dealt with Betty, I have met her and have heard nothing but good things about her.

:teeth: That's exactly what happened to us! We haven't regreted it at all!

I hope you have a great time at the Lodge. Let us know what your thoughts are after you come back.
