First time to WDW with our own car...

Thanks for all the tips! I think we'll be taking the car everywhere but MK!

good plan -- we do a combination of both. I do find buses are better for hopping though -- you might want to consider that for your AK/Epcot day. Since Movies is so close to AK you can drive to it and just walk to the front of the park (ie no parking tram) if you're there early. For Epcot I'd strongly suggest the bus since you'll be arriving later in the day and will be parking further back. It also builds in an opportunity for a break or even a swim. Or even just bus all day and take the bus directly from AK to Epcot. Hopping days I find are different because if you drive you might end up taking 4 or more parking trams in 1 day -- not very magical when you have buses that will take you to the front of the park).

This thread has been very comforting.. I, too, am making my first trip using a car and was worried about traveling and signage.. I was probably going to use Disney Buses, but now I think we could do better driving.

However, I do have a question. I will have a dinner reservation at Epcot on Sunday night. I then want to go to MK for EMH via monorail. Since MK is open later than Epcot, would I still be able to pick up my car at Epcot or will there be no way to get there?

Should we park at TTC first and go to Epcot from there? Or is it just as much time to park at Epcot, eat, move car to TTC and go to MK?

In your case I would do disney transportation for both parks -- bus to Epcot, monorail to MK, bus back to your resort. Just so much simpler and a very short hike to the bus at the end of your day.

Good point.. I also saw your tip before mine.. We will be park hopping daily.. so probably buses in the afternoon would be better so as to not be stuck at the back end of the parking lots.

Oh, and are the roads pretty easy to navigate? (This coming from a small town Midwesterner dde09) Thanks much!!

ETA - we're staying at ASMo

As long as you can read roads signs and understand "next exit" or "keep left" commands. its very easy to get around.

Since everyone of your meals you start at and return to a park. take the bus to the park, then go by boat, walk, monorail, bus to your dinner. Go back to the park the same way. Bus back to your resort.

No need to move the car your entire trip.

We generally park the car on arrival day, and dont start it again till we leave. I am on vacation. that means no driving.

the only time this would change is if you were doing breakfast at a resort like Beach club. you cant take busses from resort to resort.
