We are contemplating a First Time Trip to Disneyland next year. A bit nervous about this since I know Disney World like the back of my hand.. the best times to go, where to stay, eat etc. So I am new to this and would like any help that you experts could lend. HELP!!! Thanks!

We actually get that question quite a lot on these boards, and the answer is always the same. Hydroguy has compiled the most awesome set of tips for WDW vets that you can ever imagine! Seriously, he should publish it and sell it on Amazon!

Hydroguy's DLR Guide for WDW Vets

I have to say, Hydroguy's tips are ridiculously helpful. I'm in the same boat! We're planning a trip for March 2010! First trip to DLR, but I'm a WDW vet.

One thing that's really different is the whole staying "on site" vs "off site" debate. There's only the three on site hotels, which are all at "deluxe" prices. Out of my range, so we're staying off site, but within walking distance and actually closer than the Disney hotels! Definitely take a look at the hotels along Harbor Blvd on the block right across from Disneyland Resort!

For restaurants, I would recommend the Blue Bayou. BB isn't cheap, but it's located inside PotC and the atmosphere is fun and unique.

HTH :earsboy:

Hi! I am a WDW vet who just returned from a solo "first" trip to DLR. I had a conference and was lucky enough to say at the Disneyland Hotel. I went out a couple of days early to get some time in the park as I too am planning a family trip next year to DLR and SoCal. So, this was like a preview.

You will get a ton of great information on this board but there is nothing like experiencing it for yourself. I went into the trip with a very open mind and was pretty much split down the middle with half the people saying I'd love it and the other saying I would be disappointed. At the end of the trip, I am not sure if I am going to go back with my family. It was still a great time and it was a total Disney experience. There were alot of things I liked and a lot I did not.
