First time to AKV

We are SOOO excited for our December trip to the AKV! I have a split stay booked. We have a studio in Jambo House and then a 1bdrm in Kidani. I settled for standard view, to conserve points.

I am looking for some discussion on the different views. What is a standard view? Has anyone had a standard view in Jambo? ... in Kidani?

The two times we stayed at AKL we had a savanna view. I can't imagine wasting any points and getting anything less than a savanna view. At Jambo House, the standard would be the pool view which might not be so awful. But at Kidani Village you get the parking lot for your view and that is a total waste of points to me. Even if you get a "pool view" at Kidani Village, you still see mostly parking lot. To me, the only reason to stay at AKV/AKL is to see the animals from your balcony.

While it is nice to have a savanna view from your room, I don't think that the resort experience isn't worthwhile if you don't have one. The resort itself is quite stunning, and has lots to look at without even going outside. If you don't have a view from your room, there are plentiful areas around the resort from which to view the animals.

I've had both situations in the past, and haven't felt that a room without a savanna view has made my trip all that much less fun, especially if the way the points worked out was the way it had to be.

We're booked in a 1BR savannah view for Nov/Dec. I'm splurging this time for the savannah view, but I'm usually not picky about that. We don't normally spend much time on the balcony yet anyway, but this is our first time staying at AKV so we wanted it to be special. There are nice public savannah viewing areas that you can take advantage of, so you won't be missing out on anything. We've gone over there a couple times to check it out, and it's very nice.

We haven't stayed at Kidani (yet), but we had a one bedroom in Jambo with a standard (pool) view. It was gorgeous! I'd suggest doing a standard view at Jambo, and a savannah view at Kidani....however, I'm sure no matter what you do, it will be a wonderful experience! Congrats and have fun!
