Well, I've finally gone ahead and done it .... I've booked myself a week in Jan 09 at the Yacht Club, first time solo

I am looking forward to it, it's a chance to do what I want when I want, but at the same time I am a little nervous.

I've got a long time to have a think what I'm going to do, where I'm going to eat, etc., and I'll be back posting asking for all your advice as the time approaches (in particular ADRs).

It's normal to be a little nervous anticipating something you've never done before. But I predict that as your time at the Yacht Club goes by, every day you'll relax and enjoy it more. And the Yacht Club is such a great location for a solo, IMHO.

You'll have a great time! The hardest part about taking a solo trip is the shocked look on everyone's face when you tell them where you're going by yourself. :rotfl2: The trip itself is wonderful. I'm looking forward to my next one.

I was a little anxious too the first time I went solo, so don't worry that's normal. :goodvibes But now I'm so used to going solo I got sick of my mom when she was with me on my last trip halfway through. :lmao:

Everyone I know is used to me going solo, they were shocked when my last trip was not solo! :lmao: They still haven't stopped making fun of me though.

I have been there solor many times. I actually prefer it. It is nice to share experiences with others too, but when solo, you can really take your time and enjoy what you want to do without worrying about others' needs. Enjoy!

I LOVE going solo. I too was a little worried the first time but you get over that fast. Do what you want when you want it is great.

That was my experience EXACTLY. I guess I loved the solo aspect so much, that on my last trip I was so frustrated with my mom that I had to ask for time alone.

I'm leaving for my first solo trip Jan 29th and I feel a bit anxious. I travel a lot alone on business, but this is my first trip to Disney alone. I nervous but looking forward to it at the say time.

If you are worried about being seen by yourself and standing out, don't be. Most people will assume you are joining your family later or that you are with whoever you are next to.

I was on a Friendship boat and an older man asked me to have my husband scoot down to make room for him. I said I wasn't with him. He laughed and said ,"Yeah, I say that about my wife all the time when we're in public. Will he scoot over?" I said no, he really isn't my husband. He sat down and said, "You are so funny. Your daughter is adorable. How old is she?" She looked to be about 3, but I wanted to say 14(mine is).He would have still thought I was being a comedian so I just let it go. :rolleyes1

I just returned from a 5day/4night solo trip. I was pretty nervous about going by myself. In fact, on the 1 1/2 hour drive to the airport I contemplated turning around several times. I will admit, I was a bit melancoly when I first arrived at the park last Sat afternoon, but by the next day I was fine.

I really didn't talk too much about the trip before I went. The few people who knew I was going by myself definately thought it was wierd, but it wasn't. Seriously, no one knows you are there by yourself. You just blend into the crowd. When I was waiting on line I just played a game I have downloaded into my cell phone. I did that and listened to the conversations of people around me.

I really got into the grove of going solo by my 3rd full day there. I basically went where the wind pushed me. I stopped at stores when I wanted, I went to attractions when I wanted. I took pictures when I wanted. It was pretty cool.

I also took the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It was very interesting and I highly recommend a behind the scenes tour for a solo traveler. It gives you contact with other people and its a great way to soak up the details of the Disney experience.

I ate all counter service. I contemplated making spontaneous table service reservations, but I just never felt like eating by myself. I would eat fast and leave. Keep in mind that I have done the dining plan many times and I have enjoyed many of the great dining experiences at Disney. This trip was not about the food. It was about the spontaneity of being alone in a place I love so much. That and I do feel a bit weird eating by myself.

I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I enjoyed mine. I am now an AP holder and a DVC member, so I am planning on many return trips - solo and otherwise.

I'm making my sixth trip to WDW at the end of February. They've all been solo and I enjoy every minute of them. I always stay at least a week and will be ten days this year. I always meet plenty of people so I don't find it a problem. From playing golf on Disney's great courses, to the parks, to fine dining and to Pleasure Island (most notably the Adventurer's Club) WDW has it all and is an unbelievable voyage even when you do it solo. The benefit being...YOU ARE YOUR OWN BOSS!

Congratulations! Don't worry about being a bit nervous. I was too before my first solo trip (Oct 06 -- 1/2 solo, 1/2 with my sister & her family) and I had an awesome time. When I came back I started plotting about my fully solo trip which occured last May. I ended up spending 12 days at WDW and had an awesome time!

Hi Dave...How did you tackle the Adventure's Club solo? Have great memories there and all were with others. I am a little wary about that one...although I am glad I will be my own boss and stay as long as I want. Hopefully I will be going for my first solo for October (just want my passport to hurry up so I can book it).

The Adventurer's Club is probably the one club on Pleasure Island that is quite fun to do solo with all the entertainment and participation from us (club members). From the Main Salon, Trophy room, Treasure Room and Library there is always something going on here and never feel bored when you're solo. Always attend the Library show, because there will be minimal activity in the other rooms when this happens with maybe one or two of the charchters in the main salon at this time depending on how many club members are in the room.

Hi all! this is my first post in almost 4 years! I used to be on the site almost every day....I am glad to be back....looks like there have been lots of changes; so, it may take me a while to figure everything out again....my daughter and I have taken a couple of trips since my divorce in august of 2004....i was really afraid that it just wouldn't be the same and might even have some negaitve effects....boy was I wrong! the magic was as strong as ever and we've had the best trips ever the past two years.....I just returned from my first truly solo trip a couple of weeks ago....spent the week from christmas eve to new year's there and had the most amazing time...it was a little strange not having my daughter with me; but, once I got there....it was awesome....what i realized is this: there is really no such thing as going to disney solo.....each and every day you are surrounded by thousands and thousands of our disney friends! i am so excited about being back on the boards....looking forward to getting to know many of you in the future.....may the magic be with you all.....kevin

I have been going to WDW solo for the past four years. I love it because you can do whatever you want, when you want to. At first, I felt awkward dining by myself, but I quickly got used to it. My grown son and I go together sometimes, and it's just as much fun. However, I love the ease of making my own schedule. You are going to love it. I guarantee once you go by yourself, there is no other way.:goodvibes  :cool1:

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling much more 'positive' - it's good to hear you all had a fantastic time.

I've even started to think about ADRs, I know it's ages away but I can't help it :rotfl:
