I just returned from a 5day/4night solo trip. I was pretty nervous about going by myself. In fact, on the 1 1/2 hour drive to the airport I contemplated turning around several times. I will admit, I was a bit melancoly when I first arrived at the park last Sat afternoon, but by the next day I was fine.
I really didn't talk too much about the trip before I went. The few people who knew I was going by myself definately thought it was wierd, but it wasn't. Seriously, no one knows you are there by yourself. You just blend into the crowd. When I was waiting on line I just played a game I have downloaded into my cell phone. I did that and listened to the conversations of people around me.
I really got into the grove of going solo by my 3rd full day there. I basically went where the wind pushed me. I stopped at stores when I wanted, I went to attractions when I wanted. I took pictures when I wanted. It was pretty cool.
I also took the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It was very interesting and I highly recommend a behind the scenes tour for a solo traveler. It gives you contact with other people and its a great way to soak up the details of the Disney experience.
I ate all counter service. I contemplated making spontaneous table service reservations, but I just never felt like eating by myself. I would eat fast and leave. Keep in mind that I have done the dining plan many times and I have enjoyed many of the great dining experiences at Disney. This trip was not about the food. It was about the spontaneity of being alone in a place I love so much. That and I do feel a bit weird eating by myself.
I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I enjoyed mine. I am now an AP holder and a
DVC member, so I am planning on many return trips - solo and otherwise.
