Hi,

We're using National (as we want to drop off the car at the Dolphin during our stay as we don't need a car the entire time). Picking it up on June 25th early (we're Emerald Asile members) and dropping it off July 1st (early). Got a quote of $257.22.

Sound reasonable? Or should I wait? We hav a little over two months to go :)

Thanks for any advice!!

That sounds fine, as it includes taxes and fees, I assume. This comes to about $51.44 all in per day.

On Car Rental Savers website, Alamo is coming in $6 under for an intermediate, but your ability to choose an upgrade is limited. The other companies are generally higher in price.

National is a little more expensive than the bargain companies (Dollar, Thrifty, etc), but you will likely get a bigger/better car than the intermediate you are paying for.

All considered, you did well. I would pay this price for National for 5 days. Keep looking, though. It is possible the prices could fall a bit between now and your trip. A periodic glance (once a week) through April and May is more than enough, then a couple of times per week in June should be ok. 5 minutes of looking for the chance to get a better price.

I should also add that Car Rental agencies usually do not have a cancellation fee. Book the National quote, then look. Book something else with the same or another company if you like the offer. You can have multiple reservations ready, just cancel them a day or so before you leave. Of course, read the terms and conditions to understand when the cancellation period is.

Good luck and have fun!
