We've been on 3 other disney cruises but this is the first time the kids are old enough (4 and 6) to both be in the organized activities during a dinner. We've never even bothered to look into Palo's before.

So we're going to Palo's for our first time.

How does it work? Is there a reservation fee? Do you pay for the meals? On the 7 day western, is one day better than another to go there?

Thanks in advance.

We chose Key West on the 7 day because we had APL rotation and it worked well for our other desires for the week.

When you board, you will receive an overview sheet telling you where you can go for reservations - it was Rockin D for us last year. I went in and was the first person there - I asked for Sunday night at 6 p.m. (that's what time the first reservations are taken) and had no problem. I believe they take reservations until about 9:30 or so.

There is a $5 gratuity charge which is shared among the staff that evening. We tipped over that (and ordered wine as well) and I believe our total bill was $83 or so. The additional tipping amount is totally up to you, everyone I've ever talked to regarding Palo thinks it is well worth it.

You simply *must* have the souffle - my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Brunch is also an excellent meal - you can sign up for that at the same time and it is $10 per person

As if the Cast Members at Palo would give you a choice of *not* having this! :D

Both times that I've eaten at Palo, the CM brought out one of each dessert for everyone.

I have never seen so much food in my life!

I would check out your dining rotation once you check in and are witing in line at port and then figure out which night you want to miss in the regular dining rooms. Try for that night for Palo's. I like to go around sunset, it is very pretty up there.:sunny:

Definitely make it your priority to get your reservation as soon as you get on board. It would be a shame for you to miss this opportunity.:(

Everyone talks about the dinners, we never have had a dinner there - we like the dinning rotations, having dinner as a family and visiting with whoever we are seated with (this is one of our favorite parts of the trip).

We have done the brunch twice. The cost is $10.00 per person ($5 for the first glass of champagne(sp?) and $5 for the tip). Here, really there is an incredible amount of food - very, very good food! Geting through the shrimp, crab, breads, cheeses, vegies, and other "appetizer" type foods, you then have to make a choice for a main course. Thats pretty hard to do for two reasons, 1) I'm stuffed from just having a sampling of the appetizers and 2) all of the main courses look great (and the ones we've had so far have rated as EXCELLENT!!) Oh yea, there are also hand made pizzas of various fancy persuasions, including a fruit one that is way yummy. Finally there is dessert (or desert however you spell the one thats not hot and dry). They have a wide selection of them, including the lowly lemon-merangue pie. They insisted that I try it, I obliged and WOW is it good. Ain't nothin' like I have ever had before. Two hours later you leave totally happy (great food and service) and tottaly stuffed.

Bon Appetite (ok I can't spell this one either:D )

We did the brunch and the food selection is incredible. Given I'm a very picky eater I was worried that I wouldn't find much to fill me. But boy was I mistaken. I had the pasta (warm) and VERY GOOD. I also had the beef tenderloin and I have never had beef tenderloin that so melted in my mouth - including at the rest of the meals. The lemon meringue is AWESOME!

We didn't do the dinner so I can't talk about it. One thing to remember for the dinners, don't miss your first seating in Animator's Palate - your kids might not be too happy. Or you can send your kids to the regular dinner seating and do Palo's for dinner - we did see a table do this.

We did the dinner and loved it. But, I am the only person who doesn't seem to like the souffle (my husband didn't think much of it either). It was so rich and chocolately that I found it was too much and it was lacking any other flavour (that is how we spell it in Canada, eh!). Everything else was great. The antipasto was super, the portobello mushroom appetizer was fantastic and our dinners were perfect. But, the best was the service. She was so great.
I can't wait to try the brunch and tea this year (last year we were on the Wonder, where it isn't available).
Make sure you stay til the end of dinner at AP. The show is late, and I saw lots of families leave before the show started.
Dessert is spelled with two "s". Remember: you always want a second helping (so that is why there are two "s"... for the two servings)... haha

You can also try to "double dip" for Palo, attend your regular seating with the kids, eat lightly, then transfer the kids to their club and go to Palo, if you have early seating. Or treat the kids to chicken fingers at the pool and then to Palo, then the kids are not "stuck" in the club for a long time if it turns out not to be their cup of tea. The clubs try very hard to make sure you are not paged if they know you are at Palo. Pick out the night the menu is least appealing, or pick the show that is least appealing. We went on Tropical Night of the Eastern, since the "show" is the deck party and it gets started so much later. No matter what you eat, or what time, Palo is lovely, a very much slower paced meal than the rotation restaurants. Do brunch and dinner if you can!

Nedleycan, I was not a fan of the souffle either. I loved the cassata, a frozen creamy layered spumoni, but alas, that is gone now. But I love the souffles at California Grill, often not chocolate.

No, but they have some other wonderful desserts at brunch.
