Last night I was at a bridging ceremonycookout for DD Daisy troop
and as the night went on we started talking about camera's and scrapbooking. One lady I know scrapbooks alot and uses CM albums but also uses other stuff. She likes to look around and see what fits her needs at the time. Well I agree with this and said I was still looking into the perfect album and would love to combine 2 companies.I amde the big mistake saying I really like top loading albums because at this point I am not organized and seem to be always coming across extra pictures I would like in my books and top load seems to work best right now. Next thing I know I am basically given a lecture( not by the scraper person I know) why I should be using one style and proceeded to take apart an album (it was a teacher gift someone had made that was just truly a work of love it was awsome!) to tell me why this was superior! I agreed with all her points but I still like top loading! I just stood there and took it like I was being repremanded by my mother and I was 7!
I realize everyone has their own style and someday I might use only one product but I would never belittle someone who has a difference of opinion!
Whew! I feel better! Who would think women would get all heated over albums!

It takes all kinds, doesn't it? Some people are just SO SURE that they are so right and they can't believe the rest of us would be so DUMB as to not completely agree with them.
At those times I wish I could come up with a witty comeback. I guess if there truly was one superior style of scrapbook the others would be obsolete by now. :D

Spinning-

I always say "Each to his own says the woman who kissed the purple cow" Everyone is going to have his/her preferences but we all have to find the products and styles that work best for us! I guess we all love scrapbooking so much and take preserving our memories so seriously, some folks forget that everyone has different tastes. That's why there are so many products available. Use what works best for you and happy scrapping!

Have a great day!

I started out by using CM and love it. HOWEVER - as scrapbooking has become huge there are MANY other companies with quality albums and other products. As a consumer I read and study about things I want to put into my album and do not limit myself to one company. I hear criticism all the time about one company or another, but just ignore it. Spinning, good luck to you in deciding. By the way, I have just recently started using Westrim Top Loading in my CM strap hinge and the few pages I've done look great in there. Just a thought.

Lisa, I was waiting to hear how that was working for you!Because that seems like the perfect combination! Because I love the feel of CM albums! But prefer top loading!
At this point I know I am too new to decide what is perfect for me. I like getting imput from everyone! I still plan to go to my CM home for crops and use their albums for certain things plus I absolutly lover their cutting tools! I plan to buy the personal cutter next. I also plan to use SIAS for other things and currently I have ring binders going for my kids everyday life! LOL!
But what bothered me most I got cornered into hearing this huge lecture which I didn't feel was needed! Oh well!

I haven't had this happen in 'real life' yet, as I don't know any other scrappers around here- but the debate blows up on message boards all the time. I just don't get it - I think CM albums look nice, but I know I couldn't work like that - I hate the idea of my layouts being stuck together back to back. However, if they work for someone else, then good for them.
But it seems that some CM purists feel threatened if you suggest that you would prefer a different style of album,

as for your 'perfect' album - have you ever seen a Dalee album? I really like mine - it's true 12x12, lies pretty flat, and has very thick/sturdy page protectors. Might be worth a look?

Bev

Hi Bev,
Yes I have looked at the Dalee albums and they look nice. Scrap in a snap I believe carries them too. Not 100% sure about that. I will know more about them on Sat. I am going to an all day scrap with a consultant. I ordered one of their albums and really like it.

Spinning, did I read your post right? Did she take apart one of your albums?!?!!?

I hope I mis-read that. I am not a violent person, but that would probably send me over the edge!

I know what you mean though...when a person comes up to you and proceeds to do anything that you would never do in a million years it is hard to know how to react.

No, she didn't take apart my album but the one we were looking at that my friend had made! She slipped the cover off and the binder part off. I was shocked too! Oh well! no harm done. I just haven't met someone so passinate about something! I guess that is a nice term for it! ;)

I've been wondering if any other pages would fit a CM album. And I love the idea of a top-loading page! The CM page protectors just don't seem wide enough. ??? For those of you using Westrim top-loading... is this just a page protector that fits CM pages, or do you use Westrim's pages? I know Michael's carries Westrim products, but never stopped to look. :)

Lisa (tiggerfan) bought the top loading page protectors from West trim to put in her CM album and said they worked great. I haven't tried it yet. But may I have 2 CM books to finish.

There are so many choices out there it just boils down to what's most important to you. My choice of the Dalee album is because of their page protectors-- they've got two little perforated bendie lines (how's that for technical lingo) at the inside edge so the album lies more flat than other types.

I find that a lot of CM people are kind of insistent that their stuff is "the only stuff." I think it used to be the case back when scrapbooking was a new thing, but now many other companies are making great products too.

The more the merrier, I say. If there was only CM there wouldn't be scrapbook stories!!!

So far no one has ever tried to lecture me on what is 'right' and 'wrong' with different products. I would want to say "And your credentials are what?" lol.
