First time home question - Is this even possible?

OK, I hope I can explain this question right. We are coming in to stay at the BWV from Monday, Sept. 1st through the 7th. I also have a ressie w. the AP discount for a night at the beach club resort for aug. 31st. I am on the waitlist for a 1 bedroom or studio at the BCV for the 31st (basically, wife wants to use stormalong bay for a day - doesn't like the clown pool).

ANYWAY, I THINK I understand that I will stay on the waitlist for up to 30 days before, and then have to call in to say I still want to be on the waitlist - IS THIS CORRECT? If so, does the less-than-30-days ever end on its own b/c the was no available rooms to meet my request? If so, how close to travel day does the waitlist end?

ALSO, am I able upon check in to say, "I am a DVC member and if there is a room available for the night, I would like to switch rooms over to BCV"? what is the ramifications of that in terms of price, points or anything else?

This doesn't answer your question, but can't your wife still use that pool as long as you're staying at a DVC resort?

No. DVC members may not pool hop to the YC/BC or AKL pools.

To the OP. You have this right. At 30 days you call back and ask to have the waitlist extended. That goes until 7 days prior to your arrival. Then you have to call day by day.

I have never tried changing at the front desk. I have called as late as a few hours before check in to try to change and not been successful so ... If you arrive during business hours the front desk cannot "switch" you to a BCV room you have to call MS.

The other consideration is that your paid room at BC must be cancelled five days in advance or they get to keep the cash!

Yes, that is correct.

All waitlists end 7 days prior to arrival. If you still want to try to get the BCV reservation once the waitlists end, your only option is to call MS and hope to get lucky. Some members call once a day or more during that last week.

I do not know what the cancellation policy is for your AP-discounted room. At some point you may be charged whether you show up or not, so it may not be a good idea to switch at the last minute.

My advice is to call CRO and see when you must cancel the AP room to avoid being charged. That will determine how long you keep trying for the BCV 1 bedroom on points.

You will have to pay a cancellation fee or maybe the full booking fee if you cancel your BC reservation upon check in. They will probably ask you to call MS to see if there is anything available on points when you check in if you ask to use points.
