First time Girl scout camper

Girl scout came is honestly the greatest amd best part about Girl Scouts even after I quit girl scouts I continued going because the resident camps are the best! I haven't been for a few years here(teen talking) but I really do miss it and plan to go next year before my senior year. The memories I've made at those camps have been amazing from sleeping under the stars next to the hood canal to stealing a couch and carrying it over a mile to our cabin to learning how to ride a horse I loved it. I know I love going to the more high tech camps sometimes where there's a blob, tubing, water slides, indoor cabins I've even going to one in a week but there's something about the simplicity of a girl scout camp which I just love the good food, sitting around the camp fire singing songs that you just cam get anywhere else and I think we sometimes forget that when we go to the fancy camps your daughter will love it

Your scouting career doesnt have to end with senior year and graduation. You can be a summer camp aide, a troop leader/asst leader, or an events volunteer! We are always looking for college aged scouts who have scouting experience and a love for the orogram to share with younger up and coming scouts!

the 2nd time my Dd went to Girls Camp 2 days before they were to come home we got a call from the Troop Leader saying that the girls cabin and the big common building had burnt down and everyone had to leave camp and come home.The Girls were fine! But home work, boom boxes, and other personal property, was damaged!! For some reason the Camp Leaders had ordered the mattresses to be stacked on the top bunks but there was light up there that no one knew about till the cabin was well burnt and the fire had jumped to the common building!! We were so glad no one was hurt!! But sorry for the camp.

Mixed reviews on girl scout camp for us!

7 1/2 yr old - says she only had an OK time. Didn't like all the walking, didn't like the food, didn't like the heat (big heat wave here, can't blame her plus she couldn't find her fan for 2 days). She said the canoeing and crafts were fun but not for a whole week. She cried really hard the 2nd or 3rd night because she missed me so much and wanted a hug She says it was just OK and has no interest in ever going back.

11 yr old - had a great time for the most part. Didn't like the 3 minute shower limit and that you had to pull a rope to get water to come out didn't like that the counselors wouldn't let her put on sunscreen or bug spray a few times (uh, need to call the camp director on that one as she came home with a burn and too many bug bites since I told them she has a minor mosquito allergy ) and she really missed me. She made it to the very top of the alpine tower and is very proud of that! Did very well at archery as well. She says she wants to go back next summer.

I thought I was pushing it this year with my 7 year old but wanted to try. She could probably handle a 3 day/2 night camp next year.

Oh, they were both bummed they only got 1 smore the entire week. Not one night of smores, just one smore! 11 yr old said they ran out of chocolate - they had to break the pieces really small. You would think you would do smores at least a couple of times during the week and have enough to go around.
