Hi everyone! I'm writing right now from our studio at BCV. The weather has been gorgeous now that hurricane Ivan has decided what it was going to do.
My initial impressions at BCV:
I was shocked at how big this property was. It gets smaller everytime I walk it, but at first I was really surprised at how far away the villas seemed from the main lobby. When we got here, we had requested non-smoking, Epcot view. There were none available (not a big deal) but when we got up to our room, the housekeeping people just finished washing the carpet. We had to go back down to the lobby with our two-year-olds in tow and change room. I was a bit disappointed that they couldn't just come up and give us a new room key, only because it was tough with the kids. They really needed a nap and weren't into moving and walking around the resort.
When we went back down, Art the Greeter was there with a big smile and a kind salute to us all. We received numerous "Welcome Homes" and have been happy with the closeness to Epcot.
Our room is nice, but this might just be the only time we'll go for a studio with the kids. It was all that was left here when I made the ressie, so it's what I took. After spending 5 days before we came here at a Vistana 2 bedroom resort, it seems very, very tiny for 4 people, even if two of those people are only 2.
The room is immaculate. It's very clean. There were only a few lightbulbs that needed to be replaced and one squeaky door that we had fixed. Housekeeping and enginneering were here in minutes after I called for those issues (and some more pillows.)
I had breakfast at Cape May Cafe this morning with my kids while DH slept in a bit. It was nice, but way overpriced for what you get. I guess I was spoiled by the fantastic breakfast buffet we had at the Crystal Palace on Monday for the kids' bdays. The food was just so much more diverse and there were so many more selections other than just eggs and sausage. Character interaction was great, however, at both places.
The parks have been very quiet. It's nice for us just to be able to get on the rides we want. The kids rode Dumbo 3 times and we got to experience so much more because of the lack of crowds.
I am very much looking forward to our next visits, and I'm so glad we bought enough points to get us more than a studio.
Oh, I have to admit that I am disappointed with SAB's hours. I expected the hours to be much longer. We got there this morning at 9:30 with the kids and had to wait till 10 am till it was open. I don't know what time it closes, but I just guessed it would have been open later. Beaches and Cream was fantastic for lunch. I can't believe how much food we got for that voucher. There is plenty of food there for two people if you split it. Just remember that!
General musings - The Golden Corral was great for dinner. Pretty inexpensive and all you can eat. Wonderful steaks. We'll definitely be going back there again, often.
The Riptide offers wonderful-looking pastries and muffins for breakfast. I know we'll be taking advantage of that. Oh, and the souvenir refillable mugs are a great investment.
Skip Angel's seafood buffet. The lobster was chewy and I just can't handle the non-split lobster. I don't want to see innards and lobster eggs when I'm eating. Call me a wus.
Fish n Chips in England was fantastic. I'd highly recommend getting some while you're in Epcot. Same thing with Japan. I really enjoyed my combo platter. Oh, and when we were in Magic Kingdom, I have to say that the toppings bar at the counter service place in tomorrow land ruined me for other counter service restaurants. Now I only look for sauteed onions and mushrooms. DH and I split a double cheeseburger and it was plenty for us.
*hold on, I need some Ghiradelli bar to refuel*
I think all of the cast members we've run into have been wonderful. They've lavished attention on the kids, especially on their bday.
I'm not tired of the parks at all - in fact, I wish we had more time to do them again. There's so much we've missed. Each day we've taken a break for the kids to nap. It's the smartest thing to do if you have small children.
I think that's it for now. I'm sure I'll think of more later. I think I need a bit of a nap now. DH will be back soon with our dessert from Beaches and Cream. Our waitress let us come back later for our dessert because we were so full from lunch. I was VERY happy about that. I need to go dream sweet dreams about the brownie sundae now.
