Looking for a hotel to stay for one night that is clean reasonable and has a place to get something eat, either near or right at it. Since we will not be getting in until 7 pm the night before our cruise out of Miami, we would like to be able to get something quick to eat before bed as well as something to eat in the morning before we head on our way to Miami to catch our cruise at that port. So any hotels near the airport that fit this description?

Also what is the best way to get to the Miami cruise port from FLL airport for two people?

TIA

Embassy Suites Ft Lauderdale is near the airport--Ft Lauderdale beach isn't far either. You may also choose to stay in Hollywood Beach area which is between Ft Laud and Miami. I am not sure about specific hotels but may be a place to start. As for transportation, I am not sure but it is a good distance. Possibly Uber or there are private transfer/shuttle services because a taxi may be really expensive.

Thank you for that. Will check Embassy to see what their rates are as well as what is in the area. Trying to find a good shuttle service to get from FLL to the Port in Miami.

We've always gotten good rates in FTL by bidding on Priceline.

In looking a little deeper, some people I know have used SAS shuttle and they were very happy (though I have no personal experience with them). They also service many hotels in the area so that is an added bonus. Search SAS shuttle ft lauderdale and you can check them out.

The second thread linked to above has 5 posts in it and 3 of them give the name of a company I've seen mentioned many times. Info given 17 minutes ago was given also 42 minutes ago.

Anricat, I appreciate you doing that search for the OP. Good info!

In January, we got into FLL kind of late and chose to stay at Candlewood Suites. They have a free airport shuttle, and it's right across the street from a plaza that has a McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, and a Winn Dixie grocery store. It was easy to walk over to get a meal and to pick up sunscreen and drinks to carry on the ship. I posted a few pictures and wrote a review of the hotel HERE. Definitely not a luxury hotel, but it served our purposes well.

The next morning, we used SAS to get to the port of Miami. It was cheap and easy. The only bad thing I'd say about the company was that our driver spouted an awful spiel, with VERY politically intense "jokes" that weren't funny to ANY of us in the van. Of course, that was just our driver, and you may get someone else.

Don't have time to read all those but thanx

I thought it might be nice to have a wide variety of opinions and thoughts. They also contain other helpful information you may not have considered regarding cruising from Miami and flying into FLL. I doubt it would take you more than 10-15 minutes to skim most of those and you may find some gems in there. But I guess it's your call.

Thank you for that. Have been looking into goairport but will check SAS as well

We're flying into fll for our Nov Mami cruise. We ultimately chose to stay in South Beach because we get in early and are heading to the beach. But we also looked at Hilton garden inn Fll airport because it has airport shuttle and their website says they can do a pom transfer pkg. Also looked at Holiday inn south of fll with an airport shuttle, and SAS will service them to pom.

Seems SAS only services from certain Hotels, am I looking at that correct on their site?

We arrived in FLL around 8pm, and had arranged for SAS to pick us up. He drove us directly to the Hampton Inn Miami Brickell and it was seamless. I was worried about traffic in the morning so I opted to stay closer to Miami. We ate dinner at Cityslickers Subs (great salads too,), it was right in the same building. Free breakfast in the morning, then we took a cab to the ship. We were a party of 5.

ETA: The other time we cruised out of Miami we took a taxi from FLL to the Intercontinental. The hotel was gorgeous, but I had a lastminutetravel deal to make it reasonable. That trip it was just 2 of us.

Now that is definitely another way to do it and it seems your have the hard part over with.

Correct, airport hotels mostly, they politely told us no service to south beach. I suppose they are trying to make their routes as efficient as they can.
