First time cruisers trip report--8/20/06 Wonder

Thanks for the report. I would have been soooo p.o'd about the service. (Maybe it's because I waitressed for a few years). I'm glad to hear you were able to have a great time anyway and have learned from your experience.

Thank you for posting your report. Easy to read and enjoyable! I felt like I was with you! Too bad you got lame service for the assistant server. Makes a big difference. And so much enjoyable when you have great table mates. Our first cruise was great, the second one was not so great. Makes or breaks the dining experience for sure. We love to be able to talk with tablemates. I think we got that same table at PC. Yuck. My poor husband was so sick from eating there. I think if we get stuck with that location again on DCL we will eat at the buffet that night!

I didn't realize they were offering the character breakfast on the 4 night cruise. How fun is that??

Again, thanks for posting :sunny: .

I have to say your report made me laugh out loud with your comments about your sons. You seem to have forgot the number 1 required cruise item when traveling with smartmouth teenagers. DUCT TAPE! :rotfl2:

As a fan of Nassau, don't let a little rain on your first visit, turn you off of it.

On a different cruise line I had the drink problem like you did. NOBODY at our table would get our drinks until about the time dessert came out. I wasn't a happy cruiser!

The new menu and character breakfast on the Wonder is getting ready for the 10 and 11 day cruises.

We were on the same cruise! Sorry to hear about your service. Boy, I can't say enough about our servers!!! Chintana "L" and Joe were fantastic! Joe was the assitant server and he remembered everything!! Several of us were drinking wine and we all like a little ice in it. After the first night, we all had styrofoam containers of ice at our seats! And we no sooner sat down and he was bringing the drinks for all the kids (alot of Shirley Temples - guess it made them feel grown up!). We never went "dry" at our table. He was always bringing more water, more wine, more soda, more ice tea and always had our coffee at the end with our desserts. And we never had to say anything after our first order!!!!

We were a party of 15 so we didn't have to worry about tablemates - unless you got tired of your own family :rotfl2: . Seriously, dinner was the one time we ALL got together so it was great! Our table was a little out of the action (we were at a combined table 2 and 3) as we were seated just to the left of the entrance at every restaurant. Then again, maybe that was best with all of us!!!

I agree about Nassau - just not a favorite of mine. This was my second 4 day and I was not impressed with it last time so I decided to just stay on the ship. Some of our group did get off and hit the straw market and a few actually grabbed a taxi to Atlantis to do a little gambling (my nephew is 18 and so wanted to hit a casino - still to young for Vegas). I also agree about the buses - they're crazy!

CC - what can you say - the absolute best!! We all decided that we definitely have to make our next cruise a 7-day cruise and we want it to be a double dip!! We all love CC.

Having cruised before - I definitely made sure I packed in the late afternoon. It's so depressing to have to pack I'd just as soon get it over with and get back out on the ship to enjoy those last hours!!!

The one thing I didn't do at all was room service! Of course I had an inside stateroom so no verandah! I actually found it more comfortable to relax up on deck or hit Deck 4 for the Comfy chairs I learned about here on the DIS! That's where we spent most of our late nights!

Bottom line - way TOO SHORT!!!
