We’re sailing the Disney Dream in Sept. can I add the gratuities to my Disney Visa Rewards card to ensure it doesn’t get hit as cash purchases. I called both Chase and Disney Rewards and no one can tell me.

Thanks All!

If that's the card you put on your onboard account you can.
Or you can even prepay them before the cruise, just call DCL.
Did you use that card for the cruise fare purchase?

I think to get the 6 mos. no payment/interest, you have to pay before hand, or add an on board credit for yourself

Yes, if you pay the gratuities in advance (or place a credit on your account) using your Disney Visa card ahead of the cruise, it will be considered part of the cruise package and will qualify as interest-free for 6 months,

If you want to use a Disney Visa Rewards card, you can go to Guest Services once you are onboard and apply all or part of the amount on the card to your onboard account. The standard gratuities will be charged to your account, unless you explicitly remove them, and you can add extra gratuities to your account if you wish.

Prepay the gratuities before you sale, use your Disney Visa and you will be eligible for 6 months no interest. If you wait until you are sailing they will be coded as a normal charge on your shipboard acct payable in full at statement closing. You have to do this directly with DCL or your cruise travel agent.

To further clarify, there's nothing you can charge on board (gratuities or otherwise) that will appear as a cash advance. Everything appears as a normal charge. The only distinction being made above about doing so in advance is whether or not the charge will qualify for the "6 months free interest" promotion. Also, all charges are in US$ and appear to come from Florida, regardless of where the ship is or what the itinerary is, so you don't get hit with international transaction charges.

If you want to get the free 6 month financing you have to add the gratuities and any onboard spending money to your account at least 3 days prior to sailing. If you wait until you get on board and just use the credit card to cove your spending while oh the ship it is charged as a regular purchase, the same as if you went to the grocery store.
