After many trips were are going to Boma's for the first time! Please tell me everything you love (and don't love) about Boma!!

We love Boma! I don't know if you're going for breakfast or supper, but
1. You can order more than one drink - so juice or a soda and coffee. That makes me happy.
2. The soups are phenomenal. It's something I normally skip over at other buffets, but not here. Pumpkin...
3. We're also a huge fan of the zebra domes. Some are and some aren't, but now you'll get to see for yourself. Yay!
Enjoy!

My favorite of all the restaurants. The atmosphere is so cool, and the lodge is beautiful. Huge selection of all kinds of foods that other buffet's do not have. The zebra domes are to die for! Everything is just so yummy and you can't beat the atmosphere.

The place is excellent. It's almost a shame to call it a buffet because it feels, & is way more than that.
From the numerous selections to the attentive staff, to the overall vibe, to the numerouse desserts. It's just one of those places that---> Get's it!:thumbsup2

^^^^ AGREED!

We had a late breakfast there. I really wanted to try the zebra domes, but they are not on the breakfast buffet. Thanks to all the Dis'ers on here, I learned that you ask your server, you may be able to get them, and we did!! Enjoy!

I don't know if you are going for breakfast or dinner!

I second the soups! I love the mulligatawny soup.

I also had a pistachio crusted salmon what was delicious.

We have also gone for breakfast and enjoyed it, but I prefer dinner. I have a medical condition that prevents me from eating a lot a food at one time and am traditionally an appetizer for a meal kind of person, but I have never minded paying for the buffet here.

As one who happily calls Boma my favorite restaurant anywhere and has been going there since a few weeks after it opened, I always offer three tips to first-timers

1 - try small servings of lots of different dishes. Don't fill yourself up with typical-sized servings of a couple of dishes
2 - be aware that you don't have to get in the long line at the carving station every time you go back for more. Each pod has its own line, and all but the first are almost always very short
3 - if the carving station line looks long, it will probably shorten up within a few minutes, so keep an eye on it a few minutes before you're ready to head up there

1 of the best things about Boma is that it's pod system where it's seperated into individual "pods" or sections where you can get into line or jump around.
The meat selection is grest for both breakfast and supper.

I've enjoyed several of the soups, though last time we were there they were rotating soups and didn't have the one I really liked. Not sure if the rotation thing is new or not.

There has always been a rotation, or at least there has been for many years. There is also some rotation on the carved meats, perhaps someone here will post what the days/options are. Regardless if someone is interesting in trying Boma they should go on any day. :)

Nah they generally have been doing that for a while. Sucks when that Awesome one that you really wanted isn't on the menu. But quite hoestly they always have 4 on tap, and between the 20 or so, it's very hard to choose a favorite, because so many good ones.

For me....the SOUPS!!! I could just eat their soups and be perfectly happy! ...however, I also love bobotie, mealie pap (i think i got that name right), love their salmon and oooooh, those Zebra Domes. Obviously, I have NEVER only eaten the soups. But....I could!! (..maybe)

I'm so glad I can get them gluten-free!! I loved them when we splurged and stayed at AKL one time - in my gluten-eating days.

I can't say enough good things about Boma! I always do it on my first night, which is a night we aren't doing the parks. I like to take my time and just relax and enjoy the wonderful food and ambience. If other folks in my party would agree, I'd eat there several times a trip and be perfectly happy to do so. To no avail, my people are one stop shoppers and they like eating at other places as well. We did eliminate several restaurants from out "normal" picks because we felt too rushed to get to our evening fast passes. We eliminated Whispering Canyon, too far and way too noisy (but good food). We eliminated Garden Grill, they completely rushed us through dinner, piling on gobs of food one after the other. We also eliminated Liberty Tree, the food wasn't all that great. My people do not like Crystal Palace but I do because when you are done eating you can step outside and watch "Wishes." And...we elected to keep Cape May Cafe, even though it's not convenient, because my kids love the crab legs. Just a few thoughts to share with you all.

Boma is one of our must do's every trip! The breakfast is our favorite, with a perfect balance of the "American" breakfast choices but also many new dishes; and it is the perfect place to try a little bit of everything. The staff is the consistently the best we have ever had. They go above and beyond, can't say enough wonderful things about them.

I'm in the minority, it seems, but Boma doesn't do much for me. A lot of the dishes with exotic or unusual names are really very common tasting dishes. It seems there is one main dominant seasoning. Enjoyed tasting the soups, but not a meal for me. Dh enjoys it more than me, but we've both decided to skip it for our up coming trip. Have had much better quality meats elsewhere.

I love ALL of the soups, but especially the Sambal Chicken Corn Chowder & the Curried Coconut Seafood Soup. I also love the various types of hummus & flatbreads, and the meat at the carving station is always good, especially if you add the African spices/sauces they have available for it.

The desserts are uninteresting to me. I don't care for Zebra Domes so I usually end up eating the mini vanilla cupcakes, if I even have any room left!

You mean the Mealie Dogs didn't fool you?! :duck:
