DH just made our reservations at Shades of Green for our trip in Nov. :Pinkbounc It is our first time staying there, every other time we have gotten overflow booking to another resort. I am really excited to check it out, I have heard alot of good things about SOG on this site and I hope it lives up to them. Can't wait :cheer2:

We have stayed there three times and will be staying a few
days Dec 31-Jan 3 this year. I need more days there. We are kind of in a
pickle, We have paid in full for Disney's Christmas Cruise Dec 24-31 and really
want to go but there is a problem. DW is still waiting on her green card and we
are getting nervous about getting it on time. Not only for Christmas but she
and my two stepsons wanted to go to Brazil in August, DW home country. Her
papers could be here today or they could be here next year its thier ballgame.
So, I need a back up for our vacation, called shadesofgreen yesterday and was
told December is booked solid, I will be calling back today to see if I can get on
a waiting list for days I need. But tell me about the overflow rates, are they any
good? And where are they for? We stayed once at the Contempary while the
new SOG was being built. Give me some good news about the way the overflow
rates are done. Thank You Kindly! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

First, I'm a little surprised all of Dec is all ready booked. I expected from Dec 19 or so on to be sold out. Having read posts on here, people still seem to be able to book rooms only a month out and they weren't on a waiting list.

Anywho, when I was working resvs there, we overflowed to every hotel on the Dis property as well as about a dozen others off site. I would stick to overflow on property; esp for that time of the year.

The time frame you're looking for is THE busiest time of the year. I wouldn't expect much in the way of a discount (i.e. expect rack rate), but it never hurts to ask. They may still be offering some this far out. If money is an issue (and the Dis resorts are not offering a discount for SoG to offer), you might do better at one of the DD hotels. I know I used to book a LOT of the Lake Buena Vista (Best Western) for this time frame. Rates were usually $79 or $89/nt (until it got closer to Xmas and then they hiked the rates). Hope that helped! :)

We went last Nov and stayed in the new section. We were on the ground floor overlooking the garden. It was so beautiful. Ground level is better because you can just walk out your sliding glass doors to the pool which is down the path, it's a little bit of a walk, but Nov is a nice time of year and the Mickey pool is heated.
I wanted to be close to the parking garage too. The bus system is not Disney's, need not say more about that.
Spend the extra money and rent a car and it's free parking at all the disney parks.
For 99.00 a night you get a deluxe resort at a value price.

Just to let you know I called SOG again today and not only is December booked
the waiting list is also closed!! But they gave me some quotes for the overflow
rates, what do you think of these? Coronado Springs $119.0 instead of $185.00,
AKL with Savannah view $259.00 instead of $420.00 and BW $279.00 instead of
$460.00. What do you think of those? We have stayed at the All-Stars, CBR,
Contempary and SOG. We really do want our cruise, but I guess I need a back
up plan. Let me know what you think if you don't mind? Thank You Kindly! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:
