First time annual passholders! questions!

How do we customize magic bands for the passes? I don't see this option in "My magicbands". Can we get them before we go to the park in October, or do the passes have to be activated and then go home and customize them for our next trip? We already have 3 magicbands from previous trips, just excited for the little pin that comes with it! Our annuals will be on our other 3 bands after activated, correct? Your answers are appreciated!

I didn't get the little slider for my band until after I came home from my trip after my first use. I got the renewal one in the mail. Once you've added your annual pass to MDE, all your bands will use it.

Once you activate your AP's in the park you'll have the option to customize your free AP bands which will come with your AP slider and discount card. So you won't have it for your first trip.

Your passes will be linked to all magic bands you have linked under your account. Your AP bands you'll get will be the same as any other bands, whether ones you've used in the past or limited edition ones you buy in the park. The annual passes are linked to your MDE account, not on the magic band

But, just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or AP, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each
additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.

So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.

The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.

You should receive the "2015 annual passholder" slider as they send it out corresponding with the year you started your AP.

The slider doesn't get you anything..unless you'd just be disappointed in it personally being 2015. Sometimes I wear my 2014 and 2015 slider together just because lol

3. You'll just continue to use those Resort MBs during your first trip with the newly-activated APs.
You will be mailed your new AP MBs (and the sliders) after you return home from this first trip and have filled out the customize options for your AP MBs.

If you wait until next year to order your "AP" MB you would most likely get the 2016 slider. Since you can use your old MB's there really is no rush to order the AP one. I never order the AP MB's right away. When I went to the Ticket Booth to get my AP benefit folder for 2015 during my visit in May the CM's gave me the 2015 slider for my MB. When I finally got around to ordering the MB there was another slider in it. When I go in two weeks & activate my renewal I will be using the bands I got for my hotel reservations. I'll wait until next year to order the AP MB.

As long as your AP is active you should be able to order the MB for it whenever you get around to it. Some people think they need to order it right away to get the AP discount card that comes with it. I've never actually used the provided discount card as I always have the actual AP card with me. I didn't even know about the discount card until it came in the box with my first AP MB. I'm holding off on ordering my next one in order to get the 2016 AP Slider and in hope that the long awaited purple color might finally become available in a regular MB.
