We will have a first-time visitor to WDW with us on our next trip, and will be at the MNSSHP on Oct 19th. Our first day in the parks will be the 17th. Would you make it a point to visit the MK before the 19th (so she can get a "feel" for the park), or if I should plan her first visit to the MK on the night of MNSSHP??

Thoughts??

There's nothing like walking down Main Street for the first time. If it can fit into your itinerary, I'd go that first day (Oct 17 or even during the day on the 19th).

Then she can see how the park usually looks and appreciate all the wonderful Halloween decorations even more.

I just asked a similar question on another thread! How old is the first time visitor? The reason I ask is because our last trip was our kids' first trip to WDW and we were at MNSSHP the first night there. We went to EPCOT the next day and that park kind of suffered by comparison. I wonder if most kids would enjoy the other three parks more if they hadn't been to MK already.

Many people traditionally start their WDW trips at MK (as we will again!) so it's probably not a big deal! And, to finally answer your question, I don't believe that our kids enjoyed their full day at MK any less after having attended MNSSHP first.

Our first-timer is 40-ish but is about 7 at heart!!!:teeth:

Just can't decide whether it's more fun to see MNSSHP first (with all its decorations) or to see it first in broad daylight and then be surprised at the transformation for the party.

I would do a daytime visit first and then MNSSHP. I always think of walking down Main Street as a bright, sunshiney time. I loved the way everything looked during the Halloween party, but it looks very different.
