Would you visit a Life Coach?

Now, the NHS refers patients to counsellors, CBT therapists, EMDR therapists, even Hypnotherapists now, but NOT Life Coaches. If the price was right, would you even be bothered? Do you think that a Life Coach can help you out? Professor Google can't tell me ;)

I'm not sure I would either. I've trained in this field extensively, and can see the benefits. But if I didn't know what a Life Coach could do or were sceptical, as I was in the beginning, I wouldn't actively seek the help of a Coach out.

No.
I think most of us can figure out our wants, needs, and how to obtain them but it often takes more time, energy, and money than we have with the chaos of ever day life.

While I think that some people would benefit from such a service, personally I wouldn't want to or need to do it.

I could see a benefit in some very specific areas, but it's not something I would pursue myself. Learning new thoughts and ideas on dealing with daily struggles and needs could be helpful to some if they have limited exposure to those things to begin with. I think you can learn about how to possibly do things differently through other means instead of paying someone for their specific ideas. Seems success would be more hopeful if different ideas are tried until you find the one that works for you. That might not even be an idea a life coach would offer, so money possibly wasted.

Life coach? No. I think the term "life coach" has a negative connotation. It seems like something anyone who wanted to make a few bucks could try out and if that didn't work out, they could move on to flat-Earth influencer.

But hypnotherapist? Maybe. That would depend on the therapist's methods. I would want someone whose suggestions were all positive, enlightening, and encouraging.

🤔 What would a life coach do that a therapist wouldn’t? To me, a life coach is someone who helps you determine your goals and how to reach them. A therapist would do that in addition to helping you deal with things that may be keeping you from accomplishing your goals. I could understand some sort of life coaching in conjunction with therapy but not alone. But that’s just me.

There may be people out there who need someone to feel accountable to in order to put in the work to improve their life. Perhaps life coaching alone would be a benefit to them? I don’t know . . .

Nope would not.

If you aren't organized enough to know how to save/invest for your future, live within your means or lead a healthy/active lifestyle, I doubt paying someone to tell you that you need to do those things will change the way you behave. Seems a bit like having some company hire a 'consultant' and then they mostly talk in buzzwords about the need to be more 'strategic' and 'customer focused'..................like that will somehow make a difference?....................LOL.

The term 'life coach' is so vague it could mean just about anything. Reminds me a bit of reading random investment advice people online tend to fling out who know nothing about your background. Honestly, what sort of skills/abilities/knowledge would this person have that would be of benefit to others?

Absolutely not. I already know what I want in life and unless a life coach has a magic wand they can wave to make everything happen instantly, I dont see the point 😂

I don’t think life coach is a regulated profession with accredited education or certification. Anyone, regardless of qualifications, can call themselves a life coach which is probably the reason the NHS doesn’t recognize this as a legitimate field.
This is very true. Whist it is RECOMMENDED that a Certified Life Coach must hold a level 4 qualification, it isn't a necessity. Anyone in the UK can call themselves a Life Coach and, as long as prospective clients don't look into it, get away with it.

Over the years, I've had 3 colleagues obtain life coach certification. I personally would not see any of them for this.
