First Stimulus, Now "Deficit Reduction".

And who is to say we haven't sent an extra check?

Well , to tell the truth we haven't sent an extra check but since we do not claim our full deductables I guess we can say we do give extra to the IRS.

Just my 2 cents.

I just finished my taxes today. I went looking hard for EVERY single deduction I could take. The business lunches that I normally would just not claim, the parking fees when I'm in Denver. Every unreimbursed expense from work, my wife's expenses from teaching, every record of every donation I made to Goodwill -- all of it.

I managed to get an additional $1,200 back from what I would have normally filed for. I'm done giving anything extra to this government. Not when they are just going to "redistribute" it PLUS put this country into decades of debt.

What happened the day Obama was elected? Stock market went down. What happened the day he was inaugurated? DOWN. House stimulus vote? DOWN. Passage of spendulus bill? DOWN. Geitners Plan? DOWN. Day he signs the spendulus? DOWN.

I'm joining the Chicago Tea Party.

He attempted to take back his 'redistribution of wealth" statement that he made to Joe the Plumber, but Joe the Plumber got it right. He denied it after he said it. I don't care if he "works so hard" that he is working 24 hours a day. If he is working to destroy the country and create a socialist "utopia", I will do my best as the loyal opposition to speak out against it. I will support every conservative candidate that choses to run against the political elite who LOVE taxes because they don't chose to pay them. I paid my mortgage. I don't want to pay anyone elses mortgage. This guy has got one big chip on his shoulder against anyone who ever worked hard for a living and succeeded. He doesn't want "equal opportunity", he wants "equal outcome". The only way to do that is to spread the misery around. Shockingly, I believe Putin recently warned him against socia
lism. He said it doesn't work!

WHO has a chip on her shoulder?

--The Earned Income Tax Credit would be expanded for poor families with three or more children that pay no income taxes. More than 22 million families qualify for the credit, one of the government's largest anti-poverty programs.

So is this the part of the Economic Stimulus Plan that you object to?

Family doesn't make enough money to pay taxes, but receives a tax credit? This doesn't mean that this family doesn't work hard to earn money, just that they don't earn enough to survive.

 But remember, they shouldn't have had those kids in the first place if they can't afford them!

Its really sad that the attitude of half of this country is "Screw everyone else, I'm out here for myself and myself alone."

Both China and Russia are returning to Capitalism because they have tried and seen that Socialism does not work!!! Unfortunately BO is to self absorbed to take advice from anyone. He reminds me of my children I can tell them over and over that they will hurt themselves if they continue to jump on the couch but they choose to ignore me and tell me that they'll be careful, 5 minutes later they're crying because they fell off an bumped their heads:confused3 .

Tina

China and Russia were communists states not socialist states.

I agree:thumbsup2

If you can't feed or house a child without relying on the government, you really should think twice about becoming pregnant, no?

110% correct. Yet it seems that the poorer you get, the more kids one has...Its sad.
Bottom line, If you cant affod em, dont have em. Condoms are mighty cheap.

Interesting comment, especially since Republicans give more to charity than Democrats:

"Arthur Brooks, the author of a book on donors to charity, “Who Really Cares,” cites data that households headed by conservatives give 30 percent more to charity than households headed by liberals. A study by Google found an even greater disproportion: average annual contributions reported by conservatives were almost double those of liberals.

Other research has reached similar conclusions. The “generosity index” from the Catalogue for Philanthropy typically finds that red states are the most likely to give to nonprofits, while Northeastern states are least likely to do so."

No, its really SAD that some people expect others to take care of them.
Its called...laziness. and being completely irresponsible.

And YES, i am only out to lookout for my family. No one else should be.

I don't think some want to see the total affect this will have on the amount of money to government has to spend.

Let's say that a person could work a little overtime or the wife could go back to work and earn just enough to move into the next tax bracket. Would they choose to do that? What gain does it give them if the little extra money is just taken in tax? That has always been the case when making finical decisions for a household.

But now the tax is for an even lower amount of pay. So people will look at what they earn and try to move downward to the lower bracket thus paying less in tax and working less in hours. Most people would choose to work less hours to bring home the same amount or more after taxes. I think many people are already trying to figure out the break even point.

I think many are concerned that as people adjust work hours/pay and the tax revenue falls, the administration will again lower the bracket to keep tax dollars coming in at a required level and it will be continuous circle where no one gets ahead.

Actually this happened to us in2007. Both our girls were in school full time, so I decided to get a little job. We are very fortunate in that my dh makes a good living and I, as of right now, do not NEED to work. However, I had been home with kiddos all day for almost a decade, and I wanted to get out and work a little. I took a job where I could go in when I wanted to and there were no problems if I didn't go. All I had to do was work 1 or 2 shifts a year to keep my status. I earned almost $1,000. It was just enough to push us into the next tax bracket. We ended up paying several thousand additional dollars in taxes. Guess what? This past year I didn't work nearly as much, and I just stayed home with my family more.

My dh is an airline pilot, and he does this each month with his schedule. There are times when he could make a few more $$ but doing so would mean being away from home an additional 2 days. He chooses to make less money and have a better quality of life.

Anyway, all this is just to show that sometimes choosing to make less money can be a smart move.

Do you really believe this? Conservatives think "screw everyone else..it's me, me, me?" Just because we don't believe every government "spendulus" program and every tax is a good thing?

This is all part of "warfare". Man against woman...black against white...rich against poor...urban against suburban..etc. It's how they sell their agenda.

You have no idea what people do privately. You have no idea the amount of money or time they donate. If only everyone tried to "help out" their own "small corner of the world"... Too many people don't want to be bothered....just let the government do it. Let somebody else pay for it. It doesn't matter at what expense...and I'm not just talking $$$$.

You have explained this better than I did! DH is self employed and sets his own hours and pay per hour with each client. He has in the past been right on the edge of the next tax bracket. We are careful to not let my part time teaching job and his hours go into the next bracket so that we don't pay the extra tax. Due to a mix up and a late payment from a client a couple years ago we ended up paying an extra $5000 in tax. Because of that we worked hours that year just to pay the extra tax debt. Hours we would rather have been home enjoying our family. We are paying attention to where the brackets will be divided in the tax tables so that we stay under and don't just go into the next one.

Not really. Socialism is between capitalism and communism and there are many different branches of socialism.

Yes, and the many socialist-form countries in Europe are moving more towards a capitalist system because the production of the people dwindled with socialist policies. The 30 hour work week, the 5-6 weeks paid vacation sound great, but the end result is reduced GDP, increasing taxes and is doomed to go broke.

Anything the goes away from Capitalism and towards Communism..is pure evil.
Run from it.
Capitalism is the path towards freedom. Especially economic freedom.

Okay, lets not pay taxes, lets pay out of pocket for all that we need. Lets put tolls on every major road, so that when they need to be repaired, everyone who has ever driven on it pays for it. Private streets are paid for by those who live on them. Lets have a schedule to decides who picks up the garbage left on the side of the streets and to mow the grass along the medians. Let us each pay the full cost of educating our children, lets allow us to get sick off of food items such as peanut butter and pay for the investigation into where the source might be. Lets pay for the police protection and decide what criminals we decide should be brought to "justice" and pay for their daily cost in a jail... let us pay for the wars to keep our country safe if we determine by a majority vote that it is necessary. The bill is in the mail. There really is a reason that somewhere along the line they decided that taxation was a necessary evil... do I enjoy paying them, no I don't but since DH and I both have jobs thanks to the Government, my parents and grandparents had private sector jobs that wouldn't have existed had it not been for government contracts.... I just decided that all my tax dollars go to me... rather than the places I would prefer not to think about...

We are extremely conservative Republicans who didn't overbuy when they bought a house and thus never needed a "bailout", worked hard to survive when we lost our jobs and got through it, buy our own health insurance because an employer doesn't provide it (or any other benefits like paid days off, for example), work with the homeless on a daily basis AND give away over 10% of our income every year.

No one better EVER tell me we're all about "me me me".
