We will be at SSR in July (I know that's a way off but I'm a planner). I have booked our ADR's, we are on the dining plan. So here are my questions:

Can we request an area at SSR?
What area should we request (there are 3 of us, me, dh and ds who is 9)?
What is the name of the new area?
Is there an updated map?
What grocery delivery service should we use (just for breakfast type stuff)?

I think that's it for now. Any information you can provide would be appreciated! This is only a 3 night stay but that's better than no nights.

Can we request an area at SSR?

Yes, you can. Congress Park is closest to the walking path to the Marketplace area of Downtown Disney; the Springs is closest to the main pool/restaurant area. The new area is (I think) called The Grandstand. It's also close (as close as the Springs, but on the other side), of the main pool/restaurant "complex". The Carousel is the first bus stop, and the Paddock is the "other" area. Depending on what you consider "a hike," none are particularly far from a bus stop, from Downtown Disney, or from the main area...but if you're as far away as you can get, it could be a 10-minute (give or take) walk...We love Congress Park, as it's directly across the canal and a very pleasant, short stroll to DTD Marketplace...

What area should we request (there are 3 of us, me, dh and ds who is 9)?

Depends on what you want to be close to...see above...

What is the name of the new area?

The Grandstand (I think)

Is there an updated map?

Probably, but I have no idea how to find it...altho you could try either the DVC members site, or the waltdisneyworld.com site and look under the SSR pages...

What grocery delivery service should we use (just for breakfast type stuff)?

We've never done this...there are groceries of the small size, fairly expensive variety in the store at Artists Palette...I've read good things on this site about a couple of stores that deliver; and Disney itself has a grocery delivery service, but I'm sorry I don't know much about these...

We so love SSR...it would be my hands-down favorite resort if I could walk to Epcot from it--since I can walk to Epcot from Beach Club, SSR and BCV are now "competing" for the top spot in my affections!

Hope you have a great, great time!

Hi,
You can request at SSR. But they will not guarantee you anything.
We love Congress Park. Building 1500. But you are a walk from the main pool but are closer to Downtown. If you want to be near the main building I can get you the name and room numbers to be near there.
I do have a map if you want to see it from our stay in OCT..Just let me know.

Garden Grocer is the name of the delivery service for goceries...!!!!

You can request ahead or speak to the staff at the desk at check-in. She offered me a room in Congress Park and I asked if we could be in the Springs and she found a room.

Different areas have different pros & cons. We liked being close to the main pool & AP & we felt we had easy access to DTD via boat or walking.

We used wegoshop grocery delivery and will do so again. What I like about it is, we can specify precisely what we want-- brands, sizes, etc. I've also heard good things about Garden Grocer, but with them you mostly order from an on-line menu and the choices are limited. Then again for breakfast things that might be just fine.

We had a great experience with GardenGrocer.com. My DH loves Yeungling beer, which is sold in limited areas of the country (not our home state) but they do have it in Florida, so I just wrote in a note at the end of the order and it came along with the rest of it, no problem!

However, they do have a $10 delivery fee....or something like that....and it might not be worth it for 3 days worth of breakfast. The slightly pricey resort store might actually be a better value! They have eggs and bacon and cereal and milk and fruit. You could also UPS to yourself or pack your favorite cereal and just buy milk at the Artist's Palette store area.

Good luck and have fun planning!

We'll be at SSR in July, too. Maybe we'll see you! :wave2:

We'll be there in July too! We requested Congress Park area and this will be our first stay at SSR as well. I'm hoping for a room with a view of DD. I love sitting on the balcany in the morning and when the kids go to bed at night.
