I'm taking my first solo trip this October and am looking for some tips. I've been to the parks a ton of times before, but just want to see what others who have done it before have to say.

I've been to WDW 4 times with the last trip being solo so I don't have a whole lot of tips but I do have a couple. First of all, relax and take your time! When I went to the parks with others, I was the uber planner and so I had to be tour guide. I was exhausted trying to meet everyone's expectations in regards to the rides and restaurants. When I did the solo trip, it was soooo nice that I didn't have to adhere to a strict schedule or always being pestered with "what are we doing next?".
Soak up the atmosphere. Go on rides or see shows you wouldn't normally do if you went with a group.
Try some new treats. One of my favorite things was to buy a treat and just sit on the bench and relax.
Repeat your favorite rides.
See your favorite characters.
Talk to people while in line! This really helped me when I got a bit lonely and it makes the wait go by faster.

Have a great time!

Going solo is SO fun! My advice is to do whatever you want even if you feel nervous about it. I booked a bunch of ADRs before my trip with the thought that Id only have the courage to do maybe one of those and end up canceling the rest. I ended up doing ALL my ADRs and had a great time. I didnt feel weird dining alone either. Also, check the boards to see if anyone will be there the same time as you. On my last trip I met a few awesome people who I hung out with almost daily and had a ton of fun! Its nice to have someone to talk to in line or during a meal once in a while. Solo trips are also a great time to get character photos! When I go with other people no one really ever feels like taking the time out to meet characters so I definitely took advantage of that and met probably 25-30 characters my last trip!

P.S. What dates will you be there? I'll be there for a quick trip Oct. 5-7

Enjoy it, but be careful you might get hooked. I've been solo three times and am gearing up for my fourth trip. I enjoy going with my adult son but it's just easier solo. I try to find something in every park I either haven't done in a while or have never done (after over 33 years there are still things I haven't done) and do those. I also try to find places I've never eaten at and do that. I have my kindle downloaded on my phone and I tend to read that in TS restaurants after I've placed my order and sometimes in lines. Most of the time in lines I enjoy watching other people or playing with the gadgets in the lines. I tend to spend more time in the resorts when solo, it's nice to just relax and always go visit at least one resort I've never seen (that is getting harder as I've either stayed at or visited almost all of them). I play bus roulette with that one, find a central bus location for the type of resort you want to visit i.e. deluxe, moderate or value and hop on the first bus to arrive. Since I have an AP, I do the same thing when I'm ready to leave that resort, hop on the first park bus that arrives. If you aren't used to eating solo, I suggest you do a test run or two at home so you are comfortable with it. You will be there during Food and Wine so make sure you set some time aside to enjoy that as well.

I just booked my first solo trip for October, too! My partner would rather have a limb amputated than go back to Disney, so I decided to go alone because I LOVE Disney! I am also an introvert, so imagine my trepidation at going solo, but now I am really excited. And I am goingfor 6 days. What I find helpful is booking some dining here and there and planning my itinerary really well, yet open to whim. Having joined this forum has also helped because I know I will be there with other solos, all of us having a wonderful time! pooh:
