I'm on my way to my first solo trip to Disney on Jan 27th for the weekend. My family lives in Florida so we go to Disney often. After all these years, I'm just now discovering what options are available for those with allergies. I am allergic to dairy, seafood, artificial sugars, and mustard. Usually I bring safe snacks and limit what I eat based on what I know should be safe. My mom always kept an eye on what I order but I'm going by myself this time.

This board has been a real eye-opener on what is available for people with allergies. I didn't know we could request allergy-free food (never done that before) at the restaurants or that they have allergen info at the quick service places. I've been limited for years because we didn't know that. Now that I know, I'm looking forward to an allergy-free vacation.

All of you have way more experience in this then I do, so I'm hoping I can get some good advice. I made an ADR for Sci-Fi at DHS because I heard they can make soy milkshakes. Is this true? I've always wanted a milkshake, but I've never been allowed to have one. What do I need to do at the counter service places to get something safe for me? I can't believe I've gone all this time not knowing this.

Yes, Sci-Fi can make a soy milkshake. It will be made with Tofutti ice cream and Silk milk (assuming they still have silk; it seems that people lately have been seeing Kikkoman Pearl soy milk around). Last August they still had dedicated allergy milk shake mixers there.

Not that you asked, but here's my rootbeer float from the Plaza.

What we do when we arrive at a counter service location is find the first CM we can see and let them know that we need to see a manager due to allergies. They instruct us as to what we should do at that location. It can vary a bit by location so it's best in my experience to have them tell us. Usually we go when there's a very low crowd (we eat at off times on purpose) so we prefer to have the manager called before we get to the front of the line as any time we've waited until then to ask for a manager, the entire line behind us has to wait until we're taken care of including for the manager to come out; for some reason they won't help the people behind us while we wait. It's just what works for us.

I'll be posting more details about the trip we just came home from shortly, but just last week my milk, egg, and nut allergic DS had a milkshake at Whispering Canyon Cafe and root beer floats at 50s Prime Time and Beaches and Cream. He also had ice cream with Mickey sprinkles and chocolate syrup at a couple places, orange sorbet at Le Cellier, and a chocolate cupcake at Chef Mickey's. All dairy free.
