"First rule of leadership, Princess...." ~Overdosing on Ice Cream

Hey there, just read through your report, it is hilarious! I especially like the Disney training the boys were doing. :rotfl:

CSR looks like a beautiful resort and that slide looks like a lot of fun. The kids look like they are having a great time despite the red eye flight. Probably a good thing you stuck with the pool instead of the parks. :thumbsup2

Disney Training was funny.

The red eye flight does catch up with all of us but especially Adam soon.

I'm about half way through the next chapter and procrastinating by Dis-ing.

I'm coming out of the shadows to tell you how much I'm enjoying your trip report! We stayed at CSR once, too, and while I loved the pool theme, my kids have been spoiled by Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club and weren't that impressed. My daughter picked out the exact same swimming suit that your daughter is wearing, but I said no (because it looked so skimpy on the V/S model). But it is very cute on your daughter and entirely appropriate, so I just said she could get it. Calla says to tell you thanks!

One last question, and this is none of my business, but you teach in a public school and your kids are home schooled?

Looking forward to more updates!

Your welcome Calla. :) We totally want to stay at Beach Club next time! Daisy goes to public school, my aunt home schools the boys. She taught public school for 30 years.

After snapping the slide pictures of the kids I walked back to our area and convinced David to call to see if our rooms were ready. I'd already called once and didn't want them to hear my voice again. The CM that answered did say "I just talked to your wife." Our room was ready! Aunt Pat and Daisy's wasn't, but that was ok. We only needed one room to no longer feel homeless.

David and I took all the bags and went to find the room. Aunt Pat stayed at the pool with the kids for a little while longer. The walk from the pool to the room felt like it was really long, but after that first day it wasn't so bad. We were in Ranchos 7A with a water view. We ended up on the far side of 7A facing a quiet pool. We couldn't actually see the water, but we knew it was there.

Upon entering the room the first thing I noticed was those beds are small! I quickly set about claiming the room as ours. Placing our stuff around, unpacking all the large zip lock bags containing all our outfits, and other various nesting activities. Natalie on the Creative Disign Board had created numerous fabulous custom designed letters for my children and I couldn't wait for them to see their Welcome to Disney World letters. So I got those all set up with their stuffed animals.

The others weren't to far behind us getting to the room and the other room was ready by then. We did get the requested connecting rooms that we wanted which was nice. The children liked their letters and they also made the decision that they would all share a bed in Aunt Pat's room so David & I would get a room to ourselves. Whoo hoo no sharing those tiny double beds!

Stacy tv was turned on and everyone took showers. I laid out the clothes for everyone to wear to Epcot. We had a dinner ADR at Coral Reef planned. Daisy and I had meticulously planned out outfits all place in ziplock bags and labeled with when they were for. Tonight called for browns, blues, and corals. Adam had brown shorts with a subtle blue & yellow plaid and a blue polo shirt with and octopus on it. Joey had brown cargo shorts and a brown polo shirt with a shark on it. Yes I bought them just for the reason that they had sea life on them to wear to Coral Reef. Daisy, and I both wore brown capris and coral shirts. Daisy's shirt had small white flowers on it. Aunt Pat wore a white v-neck t-shirt and brown capris. David had on another black t-shirt and shorts. Of course it was still super windy out so we wore our sweatshirts most of the afternoon and evening.

After everyone had readied themselves we left the room and made the wonderful discovery that we were very close to bus stop 4.

I was fascinated by the fact that even the soda machine was themed to fit in with the resort. I made Adam stand in front of it so I could take a picture. That was "Totally lame mom." according to Daisy.

We didn't have to wait very long, the very first bus to come along was going to Epcot. We hopped on and were on our way to our first park in Disney World.

As we got close to the park I was blown away by just how huge the giant golf ball really is. None of us said anything for awhile and then Joey said "It looks animated." Adam chimed in with "Yea it does."

It felt like we had finally arrived at Disney World.

Did Aunt Pat let you pick out her clothes? ;)
That soda machine IS cool----clearly not lame.

Were the kids surprised to receive their letters and the ADR invites?

Vending machines are not lame! ;) (We own a vending company.) My DH has to check them out no matter what hotel we are at anywhere in the country.:sad2:

Technically I'm blaming it on Daisy. Once I got Daisy involved in the outfit selecting/planning process she just took over Aunt Pat's clothes and assigned her the outfits.

Yes the kids liked their letters and adr invites. They started to anticipate them each day.

:lmao:

I am having so much fun reading your TR already!!

Love the pics :thumbsup2

That vending machine is interesting. Clearly Disney went above and beyond with the theme at the resort.

Great installment! popcorn::

DH and I couldn't get over the theming at AKL last year either, I took a picture of him coming out of the little "refreshments room" because the doors were themed!

I'm glad!:goodvibes

The vending machines at AKL were themed to match there too. I just figured they did it all their resorts.:confused3

I am all caught up now!

I have been known to be slightly cranky at times in WDW, too! ;)

Looking at the pics of CSR, I was all, "I was just there!" :)

Looking forward to reading about Epcot! popcorn::

great update and pics.

Did u like the resort? it is one of the contenders for next year for us?

I like the letters. :thumbsup2

So get started on that trip report!

great update and pics.

We did like the resort. I don't think we would stay there again though. Partly because there are so many places with lots of cool pools and themes that we'd want something different.

I was assuming Daisy meant taking a picture of it, not the vending machine itself? :confused3

Yes Daisy ment I was lame for taking a picture of the soda machine, not that the soada machine was lame.

Yea, gotta love teenage girls (most of the time, and try not to kill them the rest of the time). Calla graduated from "lame" to "gay", as in Geez, Mom - that's really gay. (And I REALLY hope I haven't offended anyone by that, because we have several friends with alternative lifestyles and we love them to death.)

When we go to Disney I take pictures of food and lamp posts and hidden mickeys and embarrass my teens to death :thumbsup2 I have a scrapbook of just Disney pics - no people - that I turn to when I get sad and need a WDW fix. So, right on with the vending machine picture!!

"Well! After this, I shall think nothing of falling down the stairs!"
- Alice in Wonderland

While exiting the bus we some how managed to miss the instructions on checking what gate number to return to for pick up, which would hinder us later, but right then we were just excited to be at Epcot. Into the park we went, Aunt Pat had to go through bag check first. I'd been and would continue to trying to convince her to go bagless in the parks, but she never would. We gathered together again on the inside of the park and tried to orientate ourselves. I was a little discombobulated because there was no place to pick up maps or time guides right there. Making our way farther into the park it was time to test Tour Guide Mike's information. Would we really be able to walk on rides late in the afternoon on a "green" park day? The first ride we came to was Spaceship Earth of course. The wait time? It was as quickly as we could walk up the ramp and get on. That held true for everything we went on that evening. Adam and Daisy rode in the first car, then Aunt Pat and I, and Joey and David behind us. We all though this was a cool ride and the interactive part at the end had us laughing hysterically. Well at least 4 of us were, David and Joey had done something deemed inappropriate during their photo and it was deleted.

After Spaceship Earth we managed to find the maps and time guides. I found Future Worlds lay out to be rather confusing both times we were there. We walked over and got Fast Passes for Test Track.

IMG_7522.jpg

Then back tracked a little to Ellen's Energy Adventure. I really wanted Joey to see this one because he loves dinosaurs. We walked right in to Ellen's, the pre-show had just started. Once we were loaded into the seats and the lights were off the long red eye flight start to catch up with me. I felt myself start to drift off to sleep a couple times. I looked over and Daisy was fast asleep next to me. Joey did love the dinosaurs though so this ride did get a thumbs up.

After Ellen we wandered though the park, we passed the upside down waterfall which was cool. We peaked at World Showcase but it looked really far away to our tired eyes.

IMG_5537.jpg

IMG_5539.jpg

We then made the unwise decision to ride Journey Into Imagination, followed by the Clammobiles. I thought my children were going to revolt against me after putting them through those two. Seriously people actually wait any amount of time to ride them? :confused3

After that we explore The Seas a bit. The manatees were really cool and David spotted a hidden Mickey in the aquarium.

IMG_5540.jpg

IMG_5543.jpg

The CMs were begging people to come into Turtle Talk with Crush but the kids didn't want to. I think Journey into Lameness and the Lamemobiles had scared them. Instead they climbed around on the shark for awhile.

IMG_5545.jpg

At this point everyone was tired and hungry. We kind of forgot to eat lunch. We were just killing time until our 5:30 ADR at Coral Reef.

IMG_5550.jpg

Coral Reef is tucked into an out of the way corner of the park, but we found it without to much trouble.

IMG_5552.jpg

I went to check us in, suggesting that everyone else wait outside. I wanted to check on the diver I had requested as a surprise for David. I was assured all was a go with the diver and given a pager.

When I went back outside Joey was in the middle of a meltdown having to do with not seeing anything on the menu he wanted to eat. Now a Joey meltdown is one of the more pathetic things in the world, he gets all quiet and sad looking. I decided there was nothing I could do for him and left him in the capable hands of his dad and Aunt Pat.

Adam and I went inside to wait.

IMG_5553.jpg

We found a spot to sit on the bench, it was empty when we walked in, but it soon filled up with a large extended family. It was fairly quiet and peaceful sitting there. I loved the under the sea themeing and atmosphere. The lights were so cool!

IMG_5554.jpg

While we were sitting there I told Adam about the diver so he would know to keep a look out once we were seated. Adam then promptly fell asleep on me. Shortly after that Daisy, Aunt Pat, David and Joey came in. I don't know what transpired outside, but Joey was his cheerful self again.

Sitting in the waiting area of Coral Reef on that first night in Disney World is one of those burned in my brain memories of the trip. I just felt so happy and was relaxed and just being in the moment of togetherness with my family.

Ellen's Energy Adventure is a good place for a nap, although the benches are hard. I suggest laying on the floor...:rolleyes1 I've actually done it...much better than the benches.

Meltdown already? Well at least it was short lived.

I'm interested to see how you liked Coral Reef. It's a mixed bag for most folks, but we enjoyed our meal there.

The first day in the parks is usually filled with that magical feeling......

Journey into Lameness and the Lamemobiles - I love this!

I could comment on every sentence of every chapter. You write really well and whimsical and I love the pics.

I love your last sentence. I wish I was there right now. I can't believe I have to wait over 4 months!

What time was it when you were entering Epcot? You may have said, but I have forgotten. I am thinking maybe we should change our itineraries to water parks and DQ in the mornings and afternoon park touring.

But then we'll be there in August - peak tourist season and lines.
