"Airport scurry flurry faces
Parade of passers by
People going many places
With a smile or just a sigh
Waiting waiting pass the time" - Fly By Night lyrics
I don't consider myself officially arrived for any flight until I've actually laid eyes on my boarding gate. I can walk away from that area once I've seen it, but I need to make sure it's there first. I have issues I know. We made our way down to our boarding area, keeping an eye out for food places as well. The airport was much busier at 9pm than I ever would have imagined. There were people milling about everywhere! Near our gate were two places to eat, Chilis and Burger King. Can you guess which one the children chose? Yep Burger King it was. Aunt Pat and David went to order, the kids and I found a table.
I took this opportunity to inform the children that I would be photographing all of the food on our trip and to just be prepared for it. Daisy proclaimed that "lame," but I told her to get over it.
David and Aunt Pat came back with our burgers, chicken strips and fries. David had also gotten me a monster size Diet Coke. Since I was planning on sleeping on the plane I didn't want to drink all that caffeine, but the thought was nice. All food was photographically documented with much eye rolling from my daughter.
After finishing our fast food greasy goodness we found a spot near our boarding gate and spread our stuff out to claim some territory. Everyone visited the restrooms and then settled into various waiting activities. The boys and I watched Robin Hood, the Disney animated version, on a laptop. I'm not sure what exactly David, Aunt Pat and Daisy did, they mostly wandered about. I think gum and coffee were purchased at some point. Robin Hood ended just as pre-boarding began on our plane, perfect timing.
-Aside- Why do people line up to board way before their row is called?
When purchasing the airline tickets and picking our seats Rayni and Michael were going with us so I wasn't certain how the seating arrangements would work out once we were on the plane. Just fine it turned out. The kids sat together in a row, Aunt Pat was on the aisle across from them, I was directly behind her, and David was across the aisle from me. Our plane ride was pretty uneventful, though my plan for sleeping on the plan was unrealistic. It's just not possible to sleep sitting up in a cramped space. Though David was snoring away across from me.
We landed at MCO airport around 7am local time, that's 4am for us. As we got off the plane I was just hoping that my arranged for towncar service would be waiting for us. MCO was much easier to navigate than LAX had been on our last trip to
Disneyland. We made our way quickly to baggage claim and there was our ****** driver with our name on his sign. I didn't take a picture of him because I thought that would have made me look like to big of a dork. I wish I would have though.
The luggage took forever to come off of the plane! I think we waited around 40 minutes for it. Finally it all appeared. We collected everything and took the short walk with our driver to our Disney Vacation Transportation.
We got in the van, the driver loaded the luggage and we were on our way to Coronado Springs Resort.
