What is the first ride/attraction you go to when you first get to the Magic Kingdom? Why?

Just about every time I have gone to Splash Mountain or BTMRR first. Mostly b/c they are my favorite rides and usually have long lines if you wait too long. Once I went to Alien Encounter (gonna miss that :sad2: ) first. But this was just to show my bf that Disney wasn't just for kids. Got him good! :sunny:

We usually do Buzz first. I guess just because it's there. We are typical we usually start in Tomorrowland. I like to go to Toontown at opening, and it's close. Also, we tend to go when it's quiet so it beating the crowds to Fantasyland don't quite matter.

Usually my first ride is IASW, it just makes me feel like I'm in WDW!! Since it is closed for now, my first ride in Nov. will be Splash Mtn. to avoid long lines later!!

In order:

Space Mountain
Buzz
Splash Mountain
BTMRR
POC
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
PhilharMagic
Rest of the Day in Fantasyland

Ours is POTC, although I dont know why, just tradition I guess. Probably because our first visit to MK is usually around dinner time so we do POTC, HM and then head to LTT to eat!! It a great start to our vacation!!!

This is a great thread because it got me thinking about what I do each time I visit the MK. Sometimes we take a right and go on in to tomorrowland. When we're there we eaither ride Space Mtn or get a FP. Otherwise, we head over to the left and ride POC and walk on to get a FP for Splash and BTMRR...
Great thread!

I normally like to start in Fantasy land. Peter Pan and Snow White. Those two rides are classic and I get such a great feeling just waiting in line for them. Once I hit those two I am really in the Disney mood and ready to go on everything.

Or stop for a Dole Whip!!!!

Yes, intersting thread.

If we get there first thing in the am, we go left and head for Splash and Thunder.

If we get there in the afternoon, we usually head right, into Tomorrow land. I love Buzz. And TTA.

:earsgirl:

more often then not we do POTC first.
then over to splash/Big thunder
then we head into gridlock (aka - fantasy land)
tomorrow land is last

It is so fun to read everyone's responses. We all have such unique approaches to taking on the MK. It's great!

We do the early morning entry days at MK so it is definitely Buzz Lightyear!

we usually do the Train and start from Toontown and work our way to Main Street but this year

" I'm walkin' right down the iddle of Main Street USA"

what is POTC-

We always ride Tomorrowland Transit Authority (TTA). It really gets us in the mood after walking down Main Street and looking at the castle.

If it's quiet, we get on the train and stop at Frontierland to go on Splash and BTM.

If it's packed, it's straight to Fantasyland and we go on whichever has the shortest line. :)

Emporium on main street :teeth:
HM
HOP
SM
BTM
Susan

We normally ride Jungle Cruise first as it was our first ride ever in the MK back on our first trip...However, since it is opening later we have been riding PoC first lately.....:sunny:

for us, its always the Haunted Mansion. its been my favorite attraction since way way before I ever went to WDW. I remember Walt Disney showing a film on the old Wonderful World of Color show about the Haunted Mansion in California (and WDW was barely a glint in Walt's eye then). I was hooked, even though I knew my parents could never afford to take us to California (life long jersey girl, here:earsgirl: )

when I finally got to go to WDW for the first time, I made a beeline for the Mansion and it was everything i hoped it would be. the last time i was at WDW (in 2001)--there were no crowds at all and my husband and I went into the Haunted Mansion about 8 times! I was one happy happy girl!:sunny:
