First Ride at Magic Kingdom for 1st Timer!

Peter Pan, followed by IASM. They are so quintessentially Disney.

We had a FP set up for PP, but having had breakfast at CRT we got right on PP without it, then used that FP as a rolling FP to chase the next ride we wanted until we hit the time for our next actual FP. In other words, when we got on PP without the FP, I changed that FP to IASM at about 9:15. When we got on IASM in standby, I rolled that FP to Haunted Mansion. We did SB on HM, so I rolled it to BTMRR at about the time I thought we'd get there. Did SB on BTMRR, so I rolled it to Pirates. We rode Aladdin, then did SB on POC, and rolled the FP to something later in the afternoon, as we were running into the time for our next FP we had set up and needed to use on SDMT. It was a really great use of the FP.

I'd start with one the dark rides that showcases the animatronics and characters. Growing up, those were the things that always stuck with me more than the coasters when I thought of Disney.

Ooh, I'm going to change my vote to Peter Pan, even though you have a FP booked for it. If you ride it with FP+, you miss the new interactive queue, which is really nice to see. It's worth riding standby once just to see the queue, IMHO.

I think any ride is a great ride to start with as every trip is and should be special.

When I think what Disney is all about and what I remember as a kid for Disney nostalgia is Peter Pan Flight and Dumbo. Pirates, Small World, and Haunted Mansion are fabulous classic Disney Park- cant be missed rides, but PP and Dumbo embody Disney to me.

That's a tough one!! There are so many wonderful rides at MK.. I'm not a roller-coaster person anymore and BTMR is perfect.. Just enough thrill but not crazy & is definitely a great ride to kick off Disney. My vote may have to be Haunted Mansion... It's a must do almost right away for us when we hit MK! Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Unfortunately Pirates will be under construction when I go...which means we'll have to go back so BF can ride it when it's back and running! :D

Maybe we'll try Peter Pan then if the line is short and use the FP towards something later (like JC, HM, or BTMR or Splash).

However, I am conflicted about doing BTMRR first though as I love it and it could really jump start the trip....then maybe backtrack to Splash and JC, use the FP for PP, and HM.

We are going on a Friday in June, so wait times will probably skyrocket. I wouldn't do IASW unless there were super long lines for everything else.

Does this hypothetical plan make sense? Is it too much?

9:30-11:00
BTMRR
Splash
JC
Meet Snow White
Meet Mary Poppins
PP FP

11:00-12:00
Pooh
Teacups
Meet Alice
7DMT FP
Meet Tink on way out of park to Lunch.

1:30-3:00 Lunch at WCC

3:00-8:00
Catch end of Festival of Fantasy
Space FP
Dumbo
Meet Gaston
ETWB (possible 4th FP)
Meet Ariel
UTS
IASW
HM (possibly 4th FP)
Philharmagic

One of the nice things about MK is that for every roller coaster ride there's a couple of nice easy rides. If you didn't already have a FP for Space Mountain I would totally recommend it. That was the first roller coaster that my dad (he's afraid of heights and was super nervous about roller coasters because they can get high) went on at MK. I would recommend BTMRR (no upside down!) or Splash Mountain (its just one big drop) and then maybe getting on like an easier ride like IASW or Pooh to make sure he's all good.

OR getting on maybe Pooh or IASW to get ready and then doing BTMRR or Splash Mountain and jumping on an easier ride again.

I was all ready to scream PIRATES!!pirate: Only to discover its under refurb when you go. Boo hiss.

So now I am going with HM. You aren't crossing all over the park to hit your BTMRR FP+ either. PP would be my second, but I think HM has a big edge imho.

And even though I don't know you, I forbade you to do IASM first, lol! :rotfl::rotfl: No way, not for a bf. Even for Disney lovers that ride can be too much.

I think you'll have a hard time fitting all of your 11-12 time slot choices into that one hour, esp. in June. Maybe FP Pooh? The line can be tremendous. It's a great ride, just be prepared for that.

On a busy day in June, I don't think there is any way you'll be able to get in this many rides in the morning. Your 3 FP+ selections for PP/7DMT/Space are good choices, those lines are going to be huge. But note that Space is a lot more intense than BTMRR, for someone who's never been on roller coasters before, I might skip it. Next busiest after those would be Thunder/Splash, a very good reason to do those immediately after breakfast.

We were at MK on an April Friday that was okay in the morning but then got pretty crowded in the afternoon, I'll guess some waits: Since you'll still be eating breakfast when the park opens, your Thunder wait will be 15-30 minutes by the time you get there, then Splash could be 20-30 minutes. Around 11am, JC (and HM) might be 20-30 minutes. PP and 7DMT with FP will still be 10 minutes. After 11am, Pooh is very popular, it will be at least 30-40 minute wait, Teacups maybe 10-20 minutes.

And that's with no characters. I am no character expert, but in the past, Tink had huge waits, and you don't know exactly when Alice, Snow White, Mary Poppins will be available.

I like WCC as a fun place to eat, but you probably want to budget more than 2 hours for the boat trip to WL and back.

Given your ADRs, this is something that might be possible (priority being to do big rides in the morning, and use your first 3 FP+ early, so you can book a 4th FP as early as possible)

8:20am ADR CP, then head to BTMRR and work your way back to Fantasyland:
BTMRR
FP#1 Splash
check waits, do JC then HM and IASW if there is time
FP#2 PP
check waits, do some of HM, IASW, TeaParty, Dumbo, if the waits are short, or meet characters
FP#3 7DMT
Use kiosks near Philharmagic to get FP#4 for after lunch, for HM if missed, or Pooh/Space/Buzz, or BTMRR/Splash if you want to do one again.
Lunch ADR WCC
FP#4, then get FP#5 at kiosk

Afternoon depends totally on crowds. Afternoon is good time to visit Tom Sawyer's Island. Alternate between FP rides, character M&Gs, and rides with typically low waits (Philharmagic, Hall of Presidents, Tiki Room, Swiss Family Treehouse, Railroad, Wedway, Monsters Inc, Stitch). As you use your FP, get more at kiosks, on a busy day, return times might be 1-2 hours away.

If you are staying all day for parades/fireworks, ride waits can be a little shorter during parades, and a lot shorter right before closing. Note that right before park close, posted standby wait times can be highly inflated.

Buzz Lightyear. A little friendly competition gets things off to a nice start. :)

Hard to just choose 1 ride because they are all so great. I'll narrow it down to 3. Splash Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Thanks for this. I remember it being pretty crowded last year in June, but I also remember going to Splash one morning and getting to ride it twice with no wait, then the same with BTMRR.

I think maybe we'll try going to PP, then BTMRR, possibly move the FP to Splash or JC. I've been using Kenny the pirate's character locator to figure out times for Mary Poppins and Snow White. We can always hit Tink last as she's on the way out of the park. Snow and Mary end M&Gs by 2PM, Gaston around 4-5 and Tink by park close.

I would have said Pirates, but since that's closed, go for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin... maybe that will get him excited for Space Mountain!!

I think Small World is such a magical way to start a trip. It always reminds me to leave all of the adult stuff behind and be a kid for a day!

The good news, with the app, you can check the wait times before leaving breakfast and make your decision on which direction to go. If you were getting to MK at rope drop, which lately has actually been 8:45am, you could walk on to PP and then probably do multiple rides of BTMRR and/or Splash with little wait. But if you're not getting out of breakfast until 9-9:15am, it's very possible that Peter Pan could have 30+ minute standby wait, which makes no sense to me, but that line can get very long very fast.

I'm bringing my boyfriend for his first trip to Disney World in a little less than a month! He's never really been to an amusement park before outside of local carnivals and water parks. He's never ridden a roller coaster and is kind of nervous about them - especially going upside down and corkscrews.

I'm trying to figure out what his introduction to Disney should be! We have fastpasses for Peter Pan, Mine Train, and Space Mountain throughout the day and a pre-park opening breakfast at Crystal Palace (an 8:20, so by the time we get out, the wait for Mine Train will already be at least an hour).

My best friend and I are going to give him an "introduction to roller coasters" tour throughout the day that looked something like this: Barnstormer, Big Thunder, Splash, Mine Train, Space. I would have done Mine Train earlier, but our FPs are for around 12:00PM (which is a great time to have a FP for it, but it kind of gets out of order in terms of thrill level).

However, we didn't want the first ever ride to be Barnstormer as it's pretty meh. Pirates will be closed when we're there, or else that probably would have been my first choice.

In terms of what will have shorter waits in the morning that will be longer in the afternoon, Jungle Cruise and Winnie the Pooh are options that make time saving sense. Thoughts?
Gotta go with Haunted Mansion.

I would say Splash Mtn. because of short lines in the morning, and it is mostly slow moving with fantastic theming and only one big drop, then let him make the decision on BTMRR and do that or HM. Hope you have a great trip !
