First or second week of June to visit?

I am trying to decide between the first and second week of June 2017. The dates of the grad nights are not published yet. I know that grad nights will be the first week, but how busy is the 2nd week? With schools getting out are we better off going the first week?

From what I remember, there are still Grad Night nights during the second week of June. Also many schools get out late May, but the longer you wait, it will be crowded. If I were to pick a week, I would go the first week and plan around the Grad Nights. Just my opinion, hope this helps.

Thank you. That is what I was thinking, but wanted to ask the DLR experts :)

This year the grad nights went until June 18th. We had two while we were there, June 15-17. It was busy, but not any busier than any other time i've been in the summer. The first week of June might be a little less busy, just because some kids don't get out til a little later, but I don't think it will be that much of a difference.

The SoCal Select AP summer blockout starts on June 9 in 2017 (this also happens to be the last day of school for LAUSD, I think). It might mean higher crowds leading up to that day as SoCal Select AP holders go to the parks one last time before they're blocked out. On the other hand, DLR blocks out AP holders when they figure there will be enough non-AP holders to sustain crowds.

I just got back from DL a couple of weeks ago. We were there June 11-15, in the parks 12-14. We did our usual thing with getting there early and taking an afternoon break, then staying until just after the fireworks. The 12th and 13th didn't seem too bad at all. In fact I picked up a fastpass for RSR around 9 am with a return time for 10:30 am, which I've heard is almost impossible. The 14th was awful, very crowded. But by then we'd seen everything we wanted to and were just doing the favorites. A friend of mine went the week before and from his account, it was no different.

I honestly believe that (I'm no expert) if you're going in summer, it's going to be crowded no matter what. You won't be able to tell the difference between the first week and the second week of June. You won't be able to tell the difference between a crowd level 8 and a crowd level 10. It won't make much difference. Work the fastpasses and single rider lines when you can and you should be fine.

My daughter is out of school before Memorial Day, so my mom wanted to go to Disneyland the first week of June next year. I told her we needed to wait until after the grad parties. I really wanted to go the last week of June, since we're doing APs and I was keeping the following year in mind too. We're going the third week though. When I looked at predictions for this June it showed the third week as slightly less busy than the second. There are two things affecting this, block-out dates and grad parties. For local passes still available for purchase block-outs begin in early June, but the discontinued pass that some still own (grandfathered) has dates throughout the month. During the third week they're blocked Wed-Saturday, which I think will make that week feel a bit less busy. We went the last week of June one year, when local passes were blocked out (dates have changed), and it was actually a very nice time to visit. I'm hoping this will be a good week for us. In any case June is less busy than July, and I've been both the first and second week and it's not too bad, there are just a ton of school kids (not just grads).

We always go the last weekend in June when AP's start to be blacked out, grad nights are over, summer hours start (hopefully), refurbs are (ususally) done, and all entertainment schedules are in full swing. This year only half our trip was full summer hours (6/29-7/3). Summer hours started on 7/2.

Think about the end of June if you can swing it.

We went June 7-9 this year which were the last three days before APs were blocked and grad nights. It was crazy crowded. We still did a ton of stuff but at times the crowds were very overwhelming and we've done Disney in the summer before. When I looked at wait times the next week they were much more manageable. Just my 2 cents.
