First of June vacation, Does anyone else feel cheated?

We're going 1st week of June as well, and though we're excited, it does seem like we'll just miss the new stuff that's opening. It's frustrating that we can't get fast passes for Anna and Elsa nor Cinderella since WDW doesn't know yet what they're going to do with them. I also wish they'd extend the MK hours past 10:00pm, as we'd prefer to to the waterparks (which also have crazy short hours for summer) during the day and parks at night. Oh well, we'll still have fun no matter what and can't wait to go!

Do not worry, friend! If you want to see Anna and Elsa, I suggest going to rope drop for MK and heading to them then. And if you would like to see Cindy that bad, I think there's a restaurant in Epcot with a GAUNTLET of princesses that come to your table.

Anna and Elsa are leaving MK when they go to Epcot :) Rumored May 27th originally but now sometime "in June" so they may not be there to roped drop when the OP June vacationers go.

Well, if they aren't they'll have to head to the Frozen Singalong in HWS!

Because we can. Jealous. I can be snippy too. I just needed a boost to get me excited about why I love going so much. And if you would like to know, I have visited 49 states, 36 countries and 6 continents. I would have made it to Antarctica if it hadn't been for early pack ice.

I can't understand why you're so upset at missing things if you're there so often. Just see it all next year. Hey, and if you're so fortunate that you are able to travel so much anywhere, why don't you hit up Shanghi and report back to us. Everything is new there.

I am a bit frustrated at not being able to finalize my days because I don't know if I'll need 2 days at Epcot for the 2 Frozen things, or if they open mid-trip or something. So I have a few extra ADRs I would love to cancel and to just feel "done" in my planning. In some ways hoping it doesn't open before our trip. My girls will never know what they missed, and we'll meet A&E in MK then. This is only our 2nd time going and so while I'm aware of all this stuff, nobody else in the family is. We will have a blast with or without FEA.

We'll be there June 3-13. I don't feel cheated, but I do feel a little disappointed that we'll miss out on some of the stuff that should have been open. It's been 5 years since we've first gone to WDW. I just hope it won't be another 5 years (or God forbid, even longer!) until our next trip. Still very excited to go back and experience the Disney magic!

Hey they extended F&G until the end of May and I'm a foodie so I'm looking forward to that.

Your trip will be entirely colored by your attitude going in (as with any experience in life). The first rule of wilderness survival and Disney vacationing is to keep a positive mental attitude!

I'm jealous!..but not snippy...ID go every weekend too if I could..and enjoy every second...I just go when I can and be happy!...and wow all those other travels too....bet you have stories to tell.

I can't understand why people go every year. There's a whole country and even world to see....... go every 3-5 years and there will always be new things.

Because we want to. I cannot understand why people vacation so often at a beach, any beach. After about 4 hours I cannot figure out what to do with myself.

Camping? The first thing I asked my DH on our first date was if he camped. He said No. Okay....we are good.

Skiing vacations. Nope.

I never would dream of telling anyone to change their travel habits because they are disappointed that proposed changes that they had been looking forward to will not be in place on their vacation dates. There is a difference between people who are bored with any destination yet continue to visit and complain, and a person who loves their vacation spot and is sad they are missing something they were looking forward to.

You woudl have a ball with me....I get sad if a restaurant I want to visit in WDW is not opened on my trip....and instead of spacing my trips further apart I feel the need to save for another one.

I won't be there in june, but I would feel a little cheated, especially if some things were slated to open in either April or June and got pushed back. Bit I agree, if you are truly a world traveler, go to Shanghai and report back! I would if I could!

There is a difference between you and the OP. You say: "Because we want to". The OP says "Because we can". Which makes it sound as if she doesn't want to go to WDW at all. And only goes because she can afford it. Which shouldn't be a reason to go on vacation. On vacation you should do things you enjoy and that is what I think is missing a bit.

For that reason, I do understand the comment: why not go somewhere else, there is more to see in the world. I had the same reaction on the first page. If you would rather go to DL because there everything is new, then why not look into that. Nowadays many vacation packages and plane tickets have some flexibility. Yes it will be short notice and might give some stress and extra work, but if you know in advance you might be disappointed (or feel cheated) by what you will encounter on your vacation, whether it's at Disney or somewhere else, why not try to change it?

I think what other people ticks off in some of the replies in this and other threads regarding the delays, is the feeling of entitlement some people seem to have.

(My vacations are btw mainly Disney or musical theater centered, I do not enjoy the beach or hiking, I do enjoy city trips but will do make my decision on which city to visit on their theater schedules.

I am more curious to hear which is the 50th state the OP hasn't visited yet and why.)

We too are going May 26-June 4, but I'm actually very optimistic about it all. We have all this:
  • New Star Wars fireworks (OK, not the new, new ones, but new to us).
  • Jungle Book water show
  • Nighttime safari!
  • Harambe market dance party and Tree of Life FX
  • RUMOR of a Soarin encore before it leaves forever.
  • Big Thunder Mt Railroad, which was supposed to be closed but had its refurb posponed (likely BECAUSE they are too busy trying to get other things going).
  • The slim possibility of a Frozen Ever After soft opening.

I think a lot of this is colored by where you are in the process though. I'm going next week and when I was neck deep in planning I had times of frustration, disappointment and stress because the focus is on trying to get everything arranged. Now that we're a week out and everything is what it is, it's a LOT easier to have a positive attitude (WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY IN ONE WEEK, OMG!!!!!!!).

Haha, I know what you mean. There was a three week period where I had no idea what was going to be happening with AK during my trip. That was the toughest time to keep from being 'jaded' because I just wanted to know where to spend my energy! Now that that is all settled, though, all is good :)

Well - I am going 5/29 - 6/3. I was looking forward to Rivers of Light the most. But, it looks like I'll possibly get a Jungle Book evening show and a nightime safari so I'll look forward to that. I'm taking my mom who hasn't been in years - and she loves Soarin so I'm sad about that. BUT, I wouldn't say "cheated" - I'm just happy to be going and getting away from my stressful job. AND, think of it this way - it's an excuse to schedule another trip soon.

I am going June 4th through June 11th. We usually go about every 5 years, so there will be a lot of new things. We chose this date as it is after my nephew's college closing and before the Florida schools close. Planning this trip has been hard because we are staying off property and cannot select our fast passes until 2 more weeks. We are doing 5 days Disney at 2 at Universal. We are chosing park days to avoid by Early Hours and Late Nite hours. We have the mother of all spreadsheets going! That being said, the ROL, Soarin and Frozen do effect our selection of FP's. We will just have to pick something and do last minute changes. I am a planner, and really don't want to be shuffling things around at the last minute, but I guess that is what is going to happen.
As for the OP, I understand his pain. Soarin' is my absolute favorite ride. Since the rumor is the old Soarin reopening from May 27th until June 17th, I am a little happier. I would rather have the old one than none. I also always loved the Maelstrom, and was looking forward to the Frozen revamp. I hope it will be running by the time of our vacation. I don't know when we will be visiting WDW next - I fear it is going to be a long time. So I am disappointed to learn that some things might not be ready for us. Will we enjoy ourselves? Absolutely. But if we had planned for a summer trip like our usual M.O., all these things would be in place. So beating the summer crowd may not be the best strategy.
Lesson learned.
