When we booked in December, I was gleeful and full of excitement. Predictions, pr, omotions, and podcasts pointed to several new attractions. I never thought that all would come to be, but I thought maybe one or two. Rivers of Light, New Soarin, Frozen Norway, Star Wars Launch Bay, and a new Star Wars fireworks show. Of these, if I have it right, only Star Wars Launch Bay will be open in June. I really do love Disney, however, the same old thing year after year is a bit much. I am wishing we had planned Disneyland instead. At least then I would have something new to look forward to. Help me, Help me recover that enthusiasm. Since last June what is new and will inspire me to not cancel. (This doesn't include the expensive new add on's to see old stuff.)

Not cheated exactly, but a little frustrated with planning. At this point, I just want to know. It's frustrating that you have to book everything 6 months or 2 months out, and then Disney keeps changing EVERYTHING. But, we know now about ROL and Soarin', so I can take those off the list of variables I have to worry about in planning. So now, it's just SW Fireworks and Frozen Ever After. I'm getting more zen as the weeks go on. Today, I feel like, if it is meant to be, it will be. Last week, I was :furious:.

We're there June 4 -12 and I'm a little bummed to miss things but with I DVC know that we'll be back (Sept. for me & DH and January again for another family trip). It IS making it a bit frustrating and time consuming to plan tho and I'm getting tired of hawking all these info. threads for scoop. We usually do AK in the AM's and leave so for this trip I planned 2 afternoons / evenings there hoping for ROL & the nighttime safari. I also only planned 4 ADR's for the trip so far because I don't want to have to change any more than I have to. I also planned for a couple of evenings at HS for the new fireworks (which I saw yesterday is rumored for June 5th but not holding my breath). I've been trying to leave as much flexibility as I can in our schedule for changing things around. Disney is killing me tho with all of these non-descript opening dates. I'm tired of hearing "June" and "summer" for these new things like the Frozen ride at Epcot and then logging in to MDE to see if I can make FP's for anything I want. If I miss the opening releases for the AK stuff and can't get the FP's I want I will change one of our AK evenings to Disney Springs. I've just about decided it's not worth all the agravation.

No, not really. These were my dates no matter what. I couldn't switch them if I wanted to. Sure, it would have been very nice to have them new things open, but I'm not going to sweat it.

Well, the Jungle Book show is scheduled to premiere over Memorial Day weekend, and the evening entertainment including the Tree of Life Awakening will also be going. There is a new Meet and Greet with Joy and Sadness. It seems as if the new bar at T of T will be open shortly as well. Lots of new premiers in Disney Springs. So, there is a lot of stuff open.

I think AK will be open at night (just no Rivers of Light) in early June.

There will always be SOMEONE who has a vacation weeks or days before a new attraction opens. Same thing will happen when Pandora or Star Wars Land opens .. there will be tons of families who are vacationing the week before they open .. simply because they planned their vacation that far in advance.

Cheated? No .. you planned this vacation a while ago I assume and since no dates were set in stone then you shouldn't feel 'cheated'.

Disappointed? As you are missing these things by just a few days .. yes.

I would look at it this way:
If a lot of people cancel or delay their vacations since the "new" stuff won't be open yet, then it may not be crowded.
I imagine that these new rides/attractions will be mobbed in their opening few months .. long lines .. no FP availability, etc. While it would be fun, you could be avoiding a nightmare.

I went in August 2015 and the only thing that has opened since then is the Star Wars Launch Bay .. I'd go today just for that and the Star Wars parade and Fireworks at DHS. There is always something new or something missed last time to make a trip "fresh"

I take it, it is not possible to cancel your WDW reservation and book for DL in June? (And reroute your flights if necessary)

With 15+ WDW/DL trips (plus one upcoming May 31-June 5) we book 4-6 months ahead based on our availability for vacation times from work and school, our budget, the costs, weather and most importantly considering potential crowd numbers. Sure we note what is closed, under construction, may or may not reopen or open, but not the primary factor and based on experience with WDW/DL we certainly do not plan on possible open/reopen dates due to speculation or rumors, and not trusting WDW/DL to be on time with any of their construction timelines. Frankly if we felt strong possibility that we would miss something we really needed or values we would wait, but that has not been our typical approach. And here is the thing about WDW (and to certain degree DL) keeping to Walt's vision the parks are always evolving, month to month, year to year upgrades and new attractions/events are always on the way or coming on line. Pretty much impossible to plan a trip without something closed, under repair or new construction. We just plan for it and around the impacts.

Disappointed that I will miss soaring. Still holding out hope for Frozen. I am just cheering myself up because I know own the sale for my dates have better prices compared to later in June.

I have to be honest - if we only went once/year, I would not go until the EPCOT rides are back up and running in late June. MK is a total mess with the spillover crowds.

I am still very excited to go, but slightly disappointed. While it would be so amazing to experience everything new, I'm very much OK with the not having to be overwhelmed with the crowds these attractions are sure to draw.

I have an early May, early July and Mid September visits planned, with different relatives friends. We were disappointed there are no SW weekends, but that group will enjoy F& G as planned.

I hope ROL is running by September.

I am DVC so these delays are not disappointing me as much as my friends.

Same thing happened when 7DMT opened for us- you'd think we'd pick a different week. The press event for 7DMT was on 5/28 and opened to the public a week later. Of course we were gone by then.

Now we are going 5/28-6/5 so it looks like we will miss out again. I really thought we would get ROL but I guess not.... I doubt Frozen too.

I guess I'm the minority...my attititude is..it's Disney...I'm excited anyway!...we only go every 2-3 years and never see all there is to see by far so it's special to us and we just go with the flow and see what we can see. And then come home and start planning next time!

I will be there June 6-10. I'm kinda bummed about Soarin' but still happy to be going and hopefully the poster above is on to something and people will change plans and not be there the week we are!! Lol. I like the idea of the parks not being a 9 on the crowd scale.

Traveling with me is my husband, two daughters, ages 22 & 17 and our daughter's boyfriend, 24, who has never been to a Disney park. So, just being able to share his first experience with him & taking a family vacation with our nearly grown daughters will be memories in the making. As one finishes up college and the younger one begins her college years, we may not be able to coincide our schedules for this type of vacation for a long time.

I'm excited to be going to DISNEY!!

We are there June 8th through the 18th. We just squeak in with soarin. Still no idea how the whole Elsa/Anna meet and greet will mess with my plans and if the ride will be going.

But overall, there is still so much to do that we will stay busy.
