first night of DS pin trading, How did you do?

I happened to be at the mall last night at around 7:30pm and had forgotten about the whole pin trading thing until I saw the sign outside of the DS. I went in and a CM was there talking to some people. I asked her if she had lots of traders and she said "just 4" but they had left by 7:30. the CM's only had 100 years pins on their lanyards. I overheard her say they had 2 #1 pins. If I am in town next Tuesday--I will make sure to stop by.

I too am disappointed that there were only 100 Years/Disney Store pins on the CM lanyards. I had thought that corporate would have seeded some of the lanyards with WDW/DL/Tokyo-DL/DL-Paris pins, you know "PARK" pins...or, if they wanted to stick with Disney Store pins, perhaps some Millenium pins or Gallery pins.
*sigh*
When I first heard about the Tuesday pin trading with CMs, I assumed that it would be more along the lines of the trading at WDW, where the CM lanyards are seeded with some truly outstanding pins. I'm with the previous poster, who said that
this trading experiment will die within a month if the pins available on the CM trading lanyards are only going to be 100 Years pins.. Hmmmmm, however, if they get some "extra" #1s or extra "Lockets"......
Happy pinnin',
agnes!
PS - One CM told me that the pins they had for the Tuesday trading was what was left over in the store on their official lanyards from Week 1 & that they weren't expecting any "for trading only" shipments.

I went to our DS last night only to be greeted by a CM who said they were supposed to trade but had not been given instructions. Therefore, they did not do it last night.:(

My Mom asked her District Manager about pins for "refreshing" lanyards, and her DM didn't have a clue what the point of that would even be, so I wouldn't hold out much luck for different pins. The only way those are going to get there are by other guests leaving them there after trades.

I think the hope is that if they start with the Week 1 pins, other guests who missed out on those will trade for those pins, and then someone who has the Week 1 pins will find something they want, and the guests will keep the lanyards "fresh."

The problem though, is that any new trader probably only has other 100 years of Dreams pins, which makes the lanyards seem boring to the "expert." But that doesn't mean that it will be boring for the newbies. It is going to take time for the newbies to have trading stock equal to what we're used to seeing in the parks.

And it may take some work on our part to get other people interested. Like maybe going to cheappins and buying some of the WDW resort pins to use to trade for the 100 years of Dreams pins so that the "newbies" can see that there are more pins out there than just the 100 years sets. It may mean a few months of experts trading for a pin they already have to make the hobby fun for the newbie, so that in a few weeks they are comfortable getting on ebay and aquiring harder to find pins, or buying from a website that has park pins etc.
