Hi, i am having a dilemma between doing cs or ts for our first night. We will land at about 2:30 and are using magical express to get to all star movies. Part of me says to go with the flow and use a cs for wherever we end up and part of me says to book a character meal to get the kids in the mood! Anyone else struggling with this? :confused3

you struggle over what type of meal to eat? Give me abreak. People in this world struggle just to eat. Make a character meal ADR, and depending on how the day is going use the ADR, or cancel and do a counter service. Is that hard to do? Am I missing something?

I know how much you want the first night to be fun. And it will be no matter where you end up for dinner  Having said that my favorite thing for the first night is Chef Mickeys. But if you are in one of the parks a CS may be the easiest. I hope this helps

Most people do have a first nite tradition :sunny: And for alot of those it is a Char Meal. Chef Mickeys is a big one but if you are interested in Cinderella try GF Parke Faire. If you chose either one of those don't forget to take a spin on the Monorail :wizard:

And a choice for your CS could be Mara at AKL, Earl of Sandwich DTD or you could stay at your resrt.

And it is a big part of your trip it helps set the mood.

I thought it was just me with that dilema--I would say leave character dining for the following day. The kids might be overexcited the 1st night. Leave it for day 2 for full appreciation...Enjoy ur trip.Good luck pixiedust:

Is it just that serious? It was just a fellow DISer asking for opinions which is what the DISboards are for.....No need to get all serious and uptight.

Have some pixiedust pixiedust: ........seems like you need it.

Another Chef Mickeys fan here! It is our first night tradition. We started when DDs were very young (3 1/2 yrs and 6 months) as a litmus test to how they would react to characters. Now they always know our first night takes us to Chef Mickeys!

Wow, you're lots nicer than I would have been. I'd have suggested pulling the wand pixiedust: out of where ever it's stuck... ;)

I have done it both ways. Sometimes if we have an ADR, I get uptight about getting to that specific destination. I think a go with the flow attitude might be a better choice for us. That said, and being a consummate planner, I would probably have a CS or two all picked out!

And just a gentle reminder, the DIS boards are for soliciting advice and suggestions. That's what makes it so fun to check them out. Let's keep our judgements about the magnitude of the issue to ourselves.

Enjoy your trip!

is that ok with you? Am I not entitled to make a judgement? Seems like it is ok for you to do, and not me. My point was what is the dilemma. Make an ADR, either use it or cancel it depending on how the day is going. Back off

We are here to have fun and rely on one another for answers to all of our vacation planning troubles. Some of us might not have all the answers but if you put all of us together and we conquer the battle of vacation bliss.
Thanks :lmao: :cool1: :worship:

That's not the point. You can say whatever you want but you dont' have to be rude and judgemental about it. If you want to have a debating war over serious hunger issues then go to the CNN discussion board. We are here to have fun and discuss our upcoming Disney trips, no need for the attitude.

Geez.....you need all the pixiedust you can get pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

One thing that you might want to consider (and I only bring this us as it happened to a friend of mine) for the first day...

if you go into a park and do a character meal, will you feel like you got your monies worth out of your park admission for that day? (i.e. for example you go to MK and have ressies at Chef Mickey - you may not have that many hours to spend in the park)

I think Chef Mickey is a wonderful idea for your first night, and you don't need park admission. You could settle in at your hotel, take the bus to TTC, and take a ride around MK resorts on the monorail, or even take a boat (GF and Poly) to another, and then enjoy a nice meal at Chef Mickey. Not an overwhelmingly busy evening after a day of travel, and you can start fresh out of the gate the next morning!!!

I am not sure how quickly ME gets you to the resorts, but with a 2:30 arrival, you have cut into a good part of your park day depending on the hours when you are visiting.

Maybe with the packages (I am local so I don't know all the ins and outs of the packages) the price of admission to the parks is based on you number of nights stay, and it does not matter if you use only a couple hours, as you have already paid... my friend had MYW ticks - they stayed off site this trip, and wasted a days park admission for about 4 hours in EPCOT - it was January and nothing was open late.
Okay - well I probably wrote way too much here..... sorry!

On our last trip we went to CG for the first evening. It was a fantastic dinner and there is a wonderful view of Wishes from their observation deck. When we were leaving on the monorail we asked to sit up front & we lucked out because another family was just vacating the front so they let us right in. It was the best start to a Disney vacation we ever had. Ohana is another great place to view Wishes, get a ride on the monorail & they have fun activities for the kids. That being said, our next trip we plan to just head to DTD to grab a pizza at Wolgang Express on the first night because we have an ADR at CRT for breakfast the next day & dinner at Ohana so we are keeping it light the first night. Geez that wasn't much help was it?

My first day plans are to arrive (via driving) sometime in the early afternoon, check in (hopefully get into rooom) take a look around at our new digs, check out DTD (shop!) grab a CS lunch somewhere (POP or DTD) and then head on over to Chef Mickey's (7:20 ADR) and finally back to POP for a quick swim. No matter what anyone else says, It is difficult to make those final decisions, but it is also fun :goodvibes .
