I am planning my first trip for my family. :cheer2: Meeting Mickey is a must for the boys (5 and 3), so I want to do a character meal with him on our arrival night. Just wondering if I could get opinions from all you experts on where the best experience/meal for the family might be. The boys are big eaters and not terribly picky. We could go to the parks this day as the price for the tickets was only a couple bucks different, but we probably won't stay long so we can get back to the resort and get a good nights sleep. Thanks for the help.

Where are you staying? If you're in a resort near EPCOT, then go for the Garden Grill. If you're staying at a monorail resort, Chef Mickey's would be most convenient.

For what it worth - Chef Mickey's is our traditional first night meal. We have such a long travel day on that first day. We get to the hotel around noon, swim a bit, get ready for dinner then off to Chef Mickey's. We ride the monorail, hang out in front of MK to view the fireworks then call it a day.

Actually, I'll be there tomorrow for our first night traditional meal.

I do Chef Mickey's on the first night too -- a tradition that I am passing on to my son for the first time in November! It is great fun, watching the monorail, seeing the characters, etc, and then going on to MK or just watching the fireworks from the contemporary!

Unless you are planning on being in EPCOT I would go to Chef Mickeys.:) It is easy to get to and very close to the MK if you decide you want to go there.

ours too...so Chef Mickey's

Garden Grill is our favorite restaurant BUT unless you were planning on paying to go to a park that first night anyway you should do Chef M's so you don't have to pay admission to get to the restaurant.

Chef Mickey's!! Can you have anymore more fun than that on your first night! We did it on our 1st trip and will again this trip, it totally set us into the Disney Mindset, a great way to catch Disney fever without doing a park on your 1st day! Good luck with your decision!

Thanks everyone, your help is appreciated. I think we will go with Chef Mickey's and possibly try Garden Grill another day. I am sure the boys will love either, so I think we can't go wrong. Thanks again for the help.

I voted Chef Mickeys but I will say I enjoyed the food better and the service at Garden Grill.....and you are right the kids and you will enjoy both

I would vote Chef Mickey, but then again we won't be doing Garden Grill again!
It's funny what makes someone feel they are at Disney. For us, it's Winnie the Pooh at Crystal Palace. I thinks its because it means we are in MK!

Chef Mickeys! We Did Both Last March With Our 2 Kids And Enjoyed Them Both....but Chef Mickey's Is So Fun And A Great Way To Get A Trip Off To A Great Start! (our Kids Were 4 And 2 At The Time!)

Another Vote for Chef Mickeys!:thumbsup2
