First Night and a B'day ! Need advice on Eats and fun!

will be in USO/IOA in September for 4 nights 9/15 to 9/18... We are staying at the Portofino.. We have the 5 for 2 passes so we are free to get in the parks anytime....

My wife's Birthday is 9/17... where should I take her to dinner, what surprise can I have arranged ?

Our first Night we land at 5pm at MCO... what would be a good plan for that night? Hit a park? where should we have dinner? Can we get in some good rides?

Any help I can get to make this trip special for her would be greatly appreciated!

If you are truely looking to do somthing special for her. My plan would be to call concierge and arrange for a dinner at Mama Della's and let them know about your wives b-day. I would book this for maybe 7:30 to give yourself plenty of time to arrive, check and relax and not rush around. I would next arrange for your wife to enjoy a spa treatment at the greenhouse spa either after supper at mama' dellas or maybe the next morning before the parks open or maybe a relaxing mid afternoon break back at PBH. My husband normally does a g/c so that i can pick my times myself. You could get conceirge to arrange for flowers to be in your room along with maybe along side a nice fruit tray and champange to start your trip off with a bang. Have a great trip.

You will be arriving in the heart of Value Season so the parks will
closing at 6. The 18th they will be open to 7. I don't think you can make it from the airport to the park via PBH in time to ride anything. You might want to just unpack and take a water taxi to Citywalk and eat dinner and maybe a movie at the Cineplex.
My wife's birthday is the 17th too. I'd agree with Partyof6, if you want something specail a spa treatment is really nice. You might consider dinner at Emerill's, Tchoup Chop or Mama's.
After experiencing the hotel express passes you won't miss the mouse that much.
Tell everyone about the birthday. I have never had any luck with it on 3 different occasions but others have received things from the hotels and restaurants.

I would call the Mandrian (Sp.) Spa at the Portofino and get her a deep Sweedish Massage reservation. Very nice way to start or end the day. I know at the Hard Rock Cafe the Servers about 10 Sang the Beetles Today is your Birthday to one of the guests. Just a thought. After you see how the Portofino and Universal treat their guests you'll think your a million miles from Disney.

No time for parks, they close early. Make ressies for the Tchoup chop and have a nice meal. You can enjoy the pool or do a movie at Citywalk after.
