This morning I booked our first trip in a GV at SSR for June 2009. We are all so excited. Any previous GVers have tips for us? We requested Congress Park or Grandstand.

Awesome! I have never booked at GV before I bet your trip will be incredible.

My only advice would be that if you have multiple families with you, you may want to make sure that everyone understands who gets which bedroom. i.e. if you are taking the king room since it is your points, make sure that the other adults understand that they get the other rooms. :rotfl2: Personnally, I haven't had to deal with this problem since on my trips with my sisters, they assumed that I was getting the room with the king bed since we were using my points.

I loved the GV's at SSR! We stayed 4 nights last June. We were in Congress Park and were very close to the quiet pool.

We cooked dinners in and 1 night we had a midnight BBQ at the quiet pool. We would also walk to the main pool at night for hot tub and swimming.

The great thing about SSR, is that it is large and the guest rooms are far enough away from the common areas, that you can have a good time at night and not worry about disturbing others. The pools are gorgeous at night. (Slide closed)

Although Cong. Park is a little further away from the main area, lakeside is gorgeous and so are the views. We were also really close to DTD Marketplace which the teens in the group enjoyed. Cong Park also has a playground.

My tip would be, if possible, keep the living room open if travelling with a large group. We would sit up all night talking and laughing and I was glad we did not have anyone on the couch as they would not have gotten much sleep! I know the points are steep, but we had a great time and would do it again.

Another plus is the 2nd floor door in the SSR GV. We were able to take the elevator and bring the luggage straight to the upstairs bedrooms:thumbsup2

Thanks for the elevator tip. We will be traveling with our dd and dsil and 2 yo grandson, our ds and ddil and 8 month old grandson. We of course will have the king size bed! ds and ddil want the room that appears a little farther around the corner upstairs. They expect the baby will need more naps. We are not planning on anyone being in the livingroom although my dad may drive up (Ft Myers area) for a night. We will be celebrating our 35th anniversary on this trip! Can't wait to introduce our little guys to Disney!

The GV's are really like having a 1 bedroom and 2 studios without the kitchenettes but the plus is each bedroom has 2 Queen beds and you have a great space to gather. When you add it up like that, you can see where they got the almost 100 points a night.

The rooms upstairs are awesome with their own bathrooms and we loved gathering around the dining room table.

Last year my niece had a 1 year old and I thought they would want their separate space for the baby to take naps so I put them in a studio, thinking the GV would be too loud.

This year we stayed at HHI in a GV and studios and they actually requested to stay in the GV, because they could put the baby to bed and still hang out with the group downstairs. I didnt think of that! So I definitely think you have the right set up for everyones enjoyment!

The GV's are also on the corners of the bldgs, so you have a little space between you and the neighbors. They were also surprisingly soundproofed. We got pretty loud with our big group, but if you stepped in the hall, you didnt hear anything with the door closed.

You dont have a big group, but I didnt get all stressed telling everyone to be quiet all the time.
