First time cruising and I want to make sure that I don't break any rules. (Other threads are making me nervous.)

I complete understand that kids are not allowed in the adult area. However when we first board, I plan to check out the spa/gym and see what it offers. Can I bring my kids with me? Since they are new to the ship, I wasn't planning on having them wait somewhere without me. Again, this is only on the first day right after boarding.

Thanks,

Yes, that is the only time children are allowed in the spa. They can stay with you for the tour and raffle. Then OUT.

relax - take the children on a good tour of the ship. We usually have lunch, look around until the staterooms are ready. Take a good look around don't let the "adult only police" bother you. You are on vacation and so are your children. They really are welcome on Disneycruise ships even though lately some people act like they should be shut in a closet. If they are old enough for the clubs take a look with them as this is usually openhouse time.

I don't think anyone has acted that way. I would love to take my kids everywhere but can understand why there are adult only areas. Nice to know they can do a little tour before it sets sail!

The afternoon before you sail, must areas are in an "open house" mode so all our welcome. I don't sail with children (at least not young ones) but I can check the kids clubs and take pictures at this time.

Thank you, balanced voice of reason! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Basically, until the muster drill at 4 p.m. everyone is allowed in any spot on the ship. After that is over, adults aren't allowed in the kids clubs unless it's designated as open house, and kids aren't allowed in the adult areas. It's pretty simple and is notated in the navigators.

Me Three! Can someone please explain the spa tour & raffle?

The first afternoon they will show you around the spa and work out room, letting you know about the services available. At about 3-3:30, they have a raffle to win credit at the spa. You must be present to win.

There are also DVC talks, with a raffle. Shopping tour talks (about where to buy diamonds and stuff on shore) with a raffle. Must be present to win.

You kind of have to pick which thing you are hoping to win.

Really? People expect others to follow basic rules and they are labeled the "adult only police". I think I'm going to the Police Academy next.

I have a question about the first few hours onboard too.. From what I have read, most staterooms are ready at 2pm. Do you just go to your room around that time and check if its ready, or how do you really know when your room is ready?

In our experience we found that the rooms were usually ready by 1:30pm. If they are not ready the hallway will be roped off.
