It looks like a lot of fun - I may look and see if I can find it around here. If not a class, then maybe a DVD...my current dance classes are not always cardio workouts, but I wouldn't give them up for anything. Well I could pass on the hip hop class - I don't really have enough cartilage left in my knees for that one...

My instructor always shows the low impact version of every move. I would think all the instructors would do the same. I actually like the hip hop stuff which really surprised me.

Check the local community center. I know ours has classes a couple times a week. I think the zumba website has a class finder too.

If you buy the DVD's, I recommend going directly through the zumba website. They're selling their little set with weights, etc...for $60-ish. I know it's pricey, but I tried the first version of their DVD's and they suck. The girls annoy the ever-loving crap outta me...:lmao: I plan to buy the newer version with the weights soon...

And Brandie - I am so glad you and Tracey got everything sorted out yesterday. I am looking forward to meeting you!
Me too! :thumbsup2

A little help please..

Post the cruise we have a few dining ADR's that need to be made is it better that I call (feb 13 being my allowed day) or give my requests to the Dreams Unlimited agent to handle this.

Last time I had to make ADR's I was fortunate to have the concierge staff @ Poly take care of them for me.

Thanks
Michelle

Hi Michelle!

Just my 2 cents, but I would do it on my own. I know it's a service DU provides, but I am too obsessive to leave it to someone else.

I agree with Jen. I can't give up that much control.

Zumba is a high-energy fitness dance class. It's basically a follow the leader kind of workout. My instructor uses lots of latin dance, hip hop, and even some ballet in our classes.

I don't have any video, but here's a link to a story that one of the local stations ran on her class...

I won't allow my real-DH to come downstairs in the fitness club where we workout on Zumba nights. He's not allowed to watch me...at least as long as I know he's watching me. He's more than welcome to watch the instructor though...just don't look at me...:lmao:

Ooo this sounds fun! I will have to see is we have classes around here.:goodvibes

Hey! Chat is tonight! Woohoo!

I went to ZumbaMichigan (dot) com or something like that and it listed county by county Zumba instructors. In there entire state, there is one dude. The rest are some pretty fine lookin' ladies!::yes:::thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

Confession time

I am a belly dancer. No, I don't wear anything tiny - like what was posted earlier. I make my costumes myself. I started for fun and was surprised at how low impact it really is. Then I was surprised by dancers of ALL shapes and sizes are accepted. I only dance in shows which my DD can attend. Although she doesn't always - that can get pricey!
When my troupe performs at one local festival we are always put in the family friendly line up and not the later time slots.
Right now I am starting to freak out a little though. I haven't made my FE yet even though I have the material because in about 4 and a half or 5 weeks I have a student show. I am doing my first ever solo. I still have to make 2 costumes for this show, and possibly another one a week or two later.

That is very cool. I could never do that, I have no ability to move my hips like that.

I didn't start my FE yet either. I am still trying to finalize when I am coming and leaving.

You never know who you'll meet do you?

Closest thing I got is being pulled up by the dancer at Restaurant Marrakesh during lunch one day.

That is very cool! Good luck on your first solo! :cool1:
I am going to buy my FE from ebay.

Those hip movements come from the KNEES! The shimmies

At least that is what I learned from my very limited belly dance experience. It's great fun and I highly recommend taking a class. Our local community recreation center has classes a few times a year.

Thanks for the input.. guess I'll know what I'm doing Friday. Which happens to be my birthday, maybe it will be a lucky day. I'm celebrating the first of MANY 39th birthdays :rotfl2:
