Does anyone have any tips for me? My husband and I are taking our son (he will have just turned 4) to Disneyland this August. We are going to fly out on a Tuesday and stay with my husband's aunt and visit DL on Wednesday. Any tips or things to remember would be appreciated!

The first tip I have for you is to go for more than one day. in August, it will be hard to see everything the parks have to offer in just one day.

If you can really only do one day, I would suggest just doing DL (not DCA), and consider purchasing ridemax (a software program that helps you avoid standing in line).

The best advice I can give you is GET THERE EARLY before the park opens! It'll seem like a lot of people are waiting to get in, but they all disperse quickly. It's amazing how uncrowded the park is before 10:30 or so. Most people sleep in.

Also, I'd recommend buying (or checking out at your library) "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland" and then doing the "Dumbo or Die in a Day" plan for parents with young children. Just follow the plan and you'll all have a wonderful time!

What about what to wear to DL? I was thinking a bikini top under a t-shirt and shorts that will dry fairly quickly. Any thoughts?:surfweb:

Our last trip to DL was at the end of last July. It was SO INCREDIBLY HUMID it was ridiculous!! :scared: Bring breathable clothing and lots of water! Also, if you want a picture with Mickey, be prepared to stand in line for a really long time. We were in line for 3 hours in Mickey's house waiting for the picture below. :hourglass In DL, if your little one likes video games he will LOVE buzz lightyear astro blasters, and at the end don't forget to stop at the touch screens and email yourself a picture of your adventure for FREE! :thumbsup2 Be prepared for very long lines at Pirates. pirate:
We absolutely loved California Adventure!! Soarin' is a must see. If you want lots of autographs and pics with charactors keep checking the backlot by the muppets 3d. If you need a rest there is plenty of places to recharge- they have a theatre that teaches how to draw various charactors, and turtle talk with Crush, Playhouse Disney live, and alot of other places to rest but still be entertained. The block party was a blast, get up front early because they throw out little bouncy balls to the kids and choose kids to come dance with them in the streets.
Hope this helps

Wear hats...bring, apply and reapply sunblock

stay hydrated and bring snacks, nothing messy, for the eait in lines...

a mister water bottle with a little fan works great and will keep everyone happy in line...

use the Fastpass system

take your time and enjoy everything. even if you can't/don't get everything done you want to....a slower pace will make the trip more enjoyable than getting everything done and being miserable!

Look up Hydro Guy's tips on this board! You'll learn everything you need to get the most out of your day.

We visited DLR the first week of August in 2005 and had great weather. You're weather at home is probably similar to mine and we found SoCal very comfortable!

As with many things at DLR, getting there early pays off big time. We waited 5 minutes to visit Mickey at his house in Toontown because we visited Toontown right when it opened (one hour after DL opens).

If you are doing a day trip and driving to DLR, parking can be confusing. Give youself extra time to get to the parks early and park at the Mickey & Friends structure. At a minimum you should plan on it taking you 30 minutes from the time you arrive at DLR in your car until you can get it parked and get to the gates. If you arrive late it can take you over an hour.
