First Day Traditions

We usually get to the resort, unpack and go swimming or just hang out. In the evening we always take the monorail (even though we have a car) to Chef Mickeys for dinner. Then it's back the resorts to get to sleep early so we're ready to go first thing in the morning.

We always eat at Chef Mickey's for dinner. It started becuase we would get in later in the day and therefor not go to a park, so we would get into the spirit by eating there.

We now get in early and go to a park, but do CM's anyway.

The last 2 trips we were not able to get in, so we are really looking forward to it in Oct. :woohoo:

After check-in we always head to Epcot. Jump onto SSE then move into WS for a few drinks and people watch and watch Illuminations. :cool1:

We are establishing a first day tradition of the following (this will be our second trip with the childern in September):

- arrive at the resort around 11am on a Sunday
- getting unpacked
- having a light lunch
- a rest and/or swim at the resort (which is for now always POR)
- taking Disney transportation to the monorail
- ride the monorail to the Contemporary
- have an early dinner at Chef Mickey around 5:30pm
- Disney tranportation after dinner (short or long) back to the resort
- possibly a swim and off to bed

Our last night tradition had been Crytal Palace and MNSSHP, this year it will be my B-day celebration.

Our first day tradition consists of visiting the Magic Kingdom first and heading straight to Fantasyland! We spend a few hours there (about 3) before going to the Crystal Palace for dinner and then watching Wishes from the porch there. It makes the whole trip start off on such a magical note for us. :thumbsup2

As we live in the uk we always take advantage of the jet lag working in our favour and head over to Ohanas at the poly for an early breakfast. We have a whole series of photos taken prior to breakfast, initially just myself and my wife then with our daughter on and now with our son as well. Its always interesting to see how everybody changes over the years and particularly how I used to have far more hair than I have now!

For us, it isn't a 1st day tradition. It's more of a 1st time you see Cinderella's Castle. You have to see it from the boat. It just makes it so much more magical when you're standing in the front of the boat and you see that castle just get bigger and bigger. Such an awesome feeling!

When I was younger and going with my parents, we would get there settle for a few minutes and then head over to MK and have a nice meal at Crystal Palace. Then we would hop on a couple of rides. That's the plan for when my DGf and I arrive in January at about 9:30 (awesome flights out of manchester, nh).

The last time I went though, we arrived at about 1 AM went to MK the next day and dragged.:coffee:

Hello,
Can i join in?This may sound boring to some of you(but we love it) as we always stay on I-Drive,but this is what we do--Unpack straight away, get freshened up and then go straight to Denny's for a mushroom swiss burger, fries and thick strawberry milkshake. Then its off to(wait for it....contain your excitement....)Walgreens or Eckards to stock up on a case of Mountain Dew,a case of Fosters,Leys chips, and american chocolate(which we lurrrve). Then back to the room for showers all round and bed.Ready for Magic Kingdom the next morning.x.

Go to MK, ride Pirates, hit the other rides, eat chicken tenders from cosmic rays while waiting for the fireworks to start.

Be still my heart...the excitement's just too much...:faint: :lmao: :dance3:

Of course Magic Kingdom is the first stop!

This year I'm hoping to make a new tradition: Pirates of the Caribbean as the first ride! POTC and the Haunted Mansion are my two favorite rides, but since Adventureland is always our first land in the MK and Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite movie franchise of all time, Pirates is first :)

We always check in at our resort then head straight to MK. We ride a few rides then head back to the resort for a quick swim then it's off to "Ohanas for dinner.

I knew it would be too much excitement for someone:lmao:
Were just too shattered to do any of the parks after the long flight, jet lag etc...Honestly it does get better from the next morning onwards.x.

Of course it does...the Fosters will have kicked in by then!!! :rotfl:

Our first full day is always MK. We head to the hat store and pick out hats, since that is the first thing we did on our first trip. Then we gaze at the castle and let the reality sink in that we're really here. This it's over to POTC, which DH must ride again and again.
If we arrive in the evening, as we will next week, we head to the Crews Cup Lounge for a Grand Margarita and then to the Beach Club Marketplace to do our food shopping (Mickey's peanuts, Chip and Dales cheese crackers, a bottle of wine and some chocolate.) Then to sleep so we can be up and out early to be there for the opening of MK.
