First Day Traditions

Hi fellow Disers I ask this question from time to time,we have so many new members I love hearing the replys.Our first day tradition is we go to HDDR on first day and then do hayride at FW after HDDR.Not first day tradition but we go first part of December each year and always do MVMCP and CP and Osborne Lights for sure each trip.Plus it may be silly but I must have a Hot Dog from Caseys on Main Street each trip.Please share your first day traditions or any other WDW traditions you have on your trips to WDW.Thank you in advance for all your replies. We inherited this tradition from my mother-in-law, who is a big time WDW devotee.

She always eats at the Cape May Cafe Clam Bake...and then goes to Illuminations at Epcot. We did that 4 years ago and we'll be doing it on August 16th!

My family's first day tradition from my childhood trips was to head to the Magic Kingdom after checking in, eat at Pecos Bill's then ride Splash Mountain as our first ride. It's nothing special but my wife and I are planning to start out the same way on our first adult trip together next month

We always go directly to the MK right after check in! We've done this for 14 trips! I'm really not obsessive-compulsive!

Go to Canada and have a Moosehead, then to UK and have a Harp.

We always go straight to MK and straight to Crystal Palace.

Nothing says "welcome home" like some mac & cheese, orange pop and pictures with Pooh!

The 1st thing after check-in is unpacking. I would rather head off to Epcot (2nd tradition) and unpack later but my DH insists that we get it done so when we come back to the hotel and just rest. We stay to watch Illuminations.

Don't really have a 1st day tradition.

Do have a first ride tradition which is the 1st restroom we can find in each park.

I never thought about a first day tradition, we have a last day tradition - space mountain is always the last ride we do on every disney vaca

I insist that the MK be the first park we enter. No other park will do. Since we normally arrive late afternoon/early evening (and we have APs) it's usually a brief visit. Maybe a ride or 2 and Wishes and/or Spectro. When we go in Oct I have us entering the park just for Spectro. The next day is the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT. Gotta get to bed!

After check in at OKW, we unpack, take a quick shopping trip to the Super Walmart,hang out at the resort for a while and then take the boat to DTD to eat dinner. Then, we go to World of Disney to buy a few souvenirs.

We check into our room and the head for Magic Kingdom. Our first ride is always BTMR.

After unhitching the camper, we get on the boat to MK (during which I always tear up in gratitude that I was able to come back yet again), then make our way to Frontierland. We get FP to BTMRR and eat at Pecos Bills, then ride BTMRR. We leave in two days and when the kids were asked what we are going on first they replied 'we always eat at that place and go on BTMRR' I was so excited to see that they too followed tradition!

Usually, we head over to MK, but this year, we're going to see Cirque du Soleil for the first time, and that's on the night of our first day. DTD may be our first stop this time.

We used to go to the MK after arrival. This year the kids derailed the "traditional" to opt for the Animal Kingdom first. Wonder if EE has anything to do with it?????????

We unpack, and then head to Beaches and Cream for lunch if we take an early flight. Next to DTD for some shopping. I would love to go to a park, but hate to use a day on my PH. Maybe someday if I have an AP then I can hit a park. It would definately be MK, Wishes and maybe CP for yummy dinner.

Usually, we stay at POFQ, but because of Grand Gathering will be at the
All Star Music. Normally, we unpack, go to the food court, (get our mugs,) walk around for at bit, just to relax a bit and enjoy the fact that we are really there!!!
Then it is off to Chef Mickey's for dinner, and our first characters! Afterward, we head to Epcot to see Illuminations.
Our first day, we have to have breakfast with Pooh and Tigger at the Crystal Palace! This has been the way for the past 5 - 6 years! And this is the way it will be in 14 days!!!!!!

Check out the resort, head to MK and ride Splash Mountain. It will always be our first and last ride. Followed by a Character dinner that first night.
