Dh and I are taking our young kiddos to WDW for the first time in their lives.

I'm trying to be realistic about that first day we're in the parks. DH and I were young and childless on our last visits to WDW. We have no clue what to expect with kids, and their excitement. We do expect some tiredness and overwhelmingness...leading to hyperness?

We're planning on arriving the afternoon before and hang out at DTD that evening, maybe eating at Earl of Sandwich.
We hope to stay on property that night and hit the parks first thing in the morning while our luggage is moved to BWV for a Sun thru Thurs ressie.

Our Sunday evening options:

Would it be Spoodles, since we are staying at BWV and checking into our villa at 4, and exploring it?

Or would you go for a fun experience WCC, Ohana's, etc?

How about crashing in the room with pizza or grabbing some CS in the parks?

Any better ideas?

What do we plan for last night?

Most of the guide books suggest leaving the MK for later when you have little ones because the other parks may pale in comparison for them. Since you will be at the BWV, you can walk over to EPCOT through the International Gateway. I suggest going there for dinner, enjoy some of the attractions and watch IllumiNations if all are up to it.

The character dinner at The Land might be a good place to go if the kiddos like the characters. It was a high point for my kids at that time, but the menu has changed significantly. They used to offer the butter as a "Mickey" figurine. I have a great picture of my daughter with it.

Alternatively, you could take the boat from BWV to MGM. It takes about 20 minutes and have dinner there at 50s Prime Time and stay for Fantasmic if the kids are up to it.

Thanks for bringing back fond memories of when my DW and I brought the kids (11 and 8) to WDW the first time in 1989. We did more in that week that I can imagine now. We were all tired, but we all had FUN!

For the last night with kids it has to be the MK. That was always our tradition. I always was sad walking out on that last evening (maybe more than the kiddos :( )

There are so many possibilities. You will have a wonderful time no matter what you do.

I've been mulling the same question... On our first nite at the BWV's, we wanted to stick close to the boardwalk area and just play there... SO... the decision is to go to Spoodles or to Spoodles Pizza Window and then hang out around the Boardwalk.
On the last night, we try to finish up at either EPCOT or MK... whichever we feel we didn't see/do enough in and have a meal at a restaurant that is special to us. Last year we finished up our vacation in EPCOT and had a meal at LeCellier.
We had kids in our group...A 9 year old and a 3 year old. We only went back to rest at the hotel a couple of times. Other than that, we rented a double stroller to set him in and put our purchases in the other side. He seemed pretty comfy in it and was able to nap as he got tired. That way, we could keep walking around and exploring the parks. You may think of that also.
Have Fun...

Our family just loves starting our WDW vacation with dinner at Chef Mickey's. I don't know why we just love starting our trip that way.

We dont ususally start our trip with a character meal first. This year we are doing the Concourse Steakhouse on our first full day there (we will be in Typhoon for the day). Then our first day in the parks we are doing Crystal Palace. We will wrap up the trip with dinner at Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

We did this on our 1st night last year (1st trip!) and we are doing it agin this August. After gettting up at 4am to start travelling and doing a few things in the park they were a little cranky in the room (ok, me & DH were too) but when we got to Chef Mickey's, OH MY GOSH! We had such a blast and the kids were in their glory. We got to see and interact with the characters which took off a lot of the pressure the next day in the park to wait in line to see them.

Good luck with whatever you decide!
