First day dilemma -- is this feasible?

We don't have park tickets or our dining plan on our first day (4/22/06) and will be arriving at POR around 3 pm. Here's my plan:

Check in, unpack and swim awhile. Take boat to DTD and have dinner at Earl of Sandwich. Take bus to EPCOT and board monorail for GF. Watch Water Pageant at 9:15 and Wishes at 10:00 from boat dock behind GF.

My concern is time. Will this work or will it be too much traveling around to be worth it? We could skip DTD and just have dinner at the Gasparilla Grill at GF.

It seems very do-able to me, depending on what time you leave to go to DTD.

It's very feasible. Depending on what time you leave for DTD you might even have time to do some shopping.

Leave yourself at least an hour to get to the GF.
The boat to DTD leave on a regular schedule (does anyone have the most current information) and takes about 30 minutes to get to DTD. It is usually quicker to take the bus DTD and then the boat home (at least for us since we were on the far side of the resort.)
Another option is to take a taxi directly to the GF, or any of the resorts on the monorail. And eat at any of the resorts on the monorail. And save DTD for a night when you can eat and then explore the DTD area. So much to see!

Have fun!

Well, our kids are dying to ride on the monorail on the first day. We will have a rental car. So there is no bus from DTD to the Epcot monorail entrance? Bummer. I guess we could ride the monorail from the TTC, but that wouldn't be much of a ride, would it?

Take the bus to the Grand Floridian and then ride the monorail loop around the monorail resorts.

Since you have a rental car you can drive to DTD and then to Epcot (since you're staying in a Disney resort you can park at Epcot for free). From Epcot you can take the monorail like you wanted to.
