First Day booking help?

We cruised DCL years ago and are getting ready to book a Fall 2016 cruise come Wednesday and I have a lot of questions.

First of all, what is the difference between putting cruises on hold vs putting down a deposit? Does putting a cruise on hold guarantee the price at that time? I'm not 100% sure of our dates and I need to discuss things with DH after he gets home from work once I get prices. Can you put a cruise on hold online? Or is that something you have to do over the phone?

If I book myself on Wednesday, can I later transfer the cruise to a travel agent for onboard credit?

And finally how many hours of my day should I expect to devote to this lol?

You must transfer your booking to your TA within 30 days to get the TA onboard credit. I'll just point out that typically a transferred booking has less OBC than a direct booking.

I'm sorry I don't know all the answers, but a hold will only hold it for a couple of days. A deposit means you have it until you cancel.
